Lindgren's Day is Done

Level 9 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Erick Lindgren
Erick Lindgren

With around 110,000 in the pot and a board reading {3-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{j-Spades}, two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Erick Lindgren checked from middle position and Dan Kelly, who has nine cashes thus far at the 2013 WSOP, moved all in.

Lindgren had 112,500 behind and thought for a solid two minutes before dropping his chips in the pot. Kelly immediately rolled over the {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped flush and Lindgren simply said, "Nice hand."

Lindgren then flashed the {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for two pair, wished his table good luck and then exited the tournament area.

Steven Binks a Two-Outer to Bust Dwan

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Tom Dwan - Eliminated
Tom Dwan - Eliminated

Tom Dwan raised to 7,800 from under the gun, Roger Sippl called in the hijack seat, and Brandon Steven three-bet to 32,000 on the button. Dwan called, and Sippl folded.

"How much you got there?" Steven asked Dwan. "Like One-Sixty?"

"No," Dwan responded. "It's like three-hundred."

Steven was surprised by this.

The flop fell {4-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Dwan checked, Steven fired out 37,000, Dwan check-raised to what looked like 94,000, Steven put in a re-raised, and Dwan moved all in. Steven called.

"You have a set of jacks?" Steven asked.

Dwan shook his head, revealing {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} for a pair of aces.

"Damn," Steven sighed, showing {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. "But I got a backdoor flush draw."

Steven's hopes of a flush were dashed when the {5-Hearts} turned, but the {q-Spades} spiked on the river to give him a set of queens and eliminate Dwan from the tournament.

"Wow," Steven said, sincerely. "I'm sorry, man."

"It's OK," Dwan shrugged, getting up to leave. "Put those to good use."

After the hand, Steven explained that Dwan's chip count threw him off.

"I thought he had a lot less," Steven admitted. "I would've played the hand completely different."

Over at the feature table, Freddy Deeb was eliminated with unknown action.

The Unabomber Knows What to Do

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Anton Morgenstern opened for 7,000 and received a call from Johnny Chan. Phil "The Unabomber" Laak then three-bet to 19,500 from the small blind, both his opponents called and the flop came down {j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Laak led out for 18,200, Morgenstern called and Chan got out of the way. After the dealer burned and turned the {3-Diamonds}, Laak checked and Morgenstern fired out 50,000.

"I know it's the correct play to shove it, but I might fold it anyway," Laak said as he leaned back in his chair. "I know what you have young man."

Laak continued to lean back and appeared as if he was going to give up on the hand. Before he could do so, he started to shove his stack of about 220,000 in the middle and said, "Ok, I'm doing it. I believe it's correct."

Indeed it was as Morgenstern snap-folded. "Your speech made me fold a good hand there," he added.

Meanwhile, Bill Klein has been eliminated from the tournament.

Peters Jams the River

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Daniel Alaei raised to 7,500 from under the gun, David Peters called in middle position, and Keven Stammen three-bet to 21,500 on the button. Only Peters called.

The flop fell {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, Peters checked, and Stammen fired out 26,000. Peters check-raised, making it 62,500, and Stammen called.

A repeat five - the {5-Hearts} - turned, and Peters led out for 66,000. Stammen called. Peters then went all in for effectively 184,000 when the {2-Hearts} completed the board, and Stammen folded.

Double for Dwan

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Tom Dwan
Tom Dwan

Three players took a flop of {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, including Tom Dwan, Alex Venovski and Roger Sippl. Dwan checked, Venovski fired out 14,000, and Sippl raised to 40,000. Dwan moved all in for 123,900, Venovski folded, and Sippl called.

Dwan: {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Sippl: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The {j-Diamonds} on the turn didn't connect with Dwan's hand, but the {6-Diamonds} on the river gave him two pair, doubling him to 285,000 chips. Sippl slipped to 60,000.
