The Unabomber Knows What to Do

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Anton Morgenstern opened for 7,000 and received a call from Johnny Chan. Phil "The Unabomber" Laak then three-bet to 19,500 from the small blind, both his opponents called and the flop came down {j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Laak led out for 18,200, Morgenstern called and Chan got out of the way. After the dealer burned and turned the {3-Diamonds}, Laak checked and Morgenstern fired out 50,000.

"I know it's the correct play to shove it, but I might fold it anyway," Laak said as he leaned back in his chair. "I know what you have young man."

Laak continued to lean back and appeared as if he was going to give up on the hand. Before he could do so, he started to shove his stack of about 220,000 in the middle and said, "Ok, I'm doing it. I believe it's correct."

Indeed it was as Morgenstern snap-folded. "Your speech made me fold a good hand there," he added.

Meanwhile, Bill Klein has been eliminated from the tournament.
