Nadal Coolered

Set over set is a cooler. There's no way around it. Catching set over set on Day 6 of the WSOP Main Event is a horrible cooler. That's what happened to Jose Nadal, who wound up calling Jakob Toestesen's three-bet shove for 918,00 on a flop of {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Nadal tabled {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, a set of treys, no good against Toestesen's {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, a set of jacks. The turn and river were both eights to double up Toestesen to 2,200,000. Nadal has been crippled to 310,000.

ODBx2

David Baker (whom we've taken to calling "ODB" or Original David Baker thanks to him having another name doppelganger in the world of poker) was all in for about 200,000 preflop with {9-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}, and he was behind but drawing live when David Assouline called him down with {A-Spades} {J-Clubs}.

The dealer gave ODB some help on board; it ran {8-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {8-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. Baker paired up to double up, and he's back to 480,000 but could still use another couple doubles to get back to average.

Assouline slipped to 1.1 million.

Pasqualini Happy To Miss

Jacobo Fernandez opened with a raise to 56,000 from early position and Jean Pasqualini made the call on the button. Matthew Reed came along in the big blind and we were three ways to a flop of {3-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{4-Spades}.

Action checked to Fernandez who fired 100,000. Pasqualini made the call before Reed moved all in for his last 709,000. Fernandez made the call and the action was back with Pasqualini who appeared to have a tough decision.

He went into the tank and eventually called the clock on himself! Finally he decided to release his {6-Spades}{5-Spades} for a straight-flush draw.

Reed: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Fernandez: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

After all the tension, both players tabled the same hand and were destined to chop it up. All the interest was whether Pasqualini would've hit his monster draw. He was relieved to see that he would not, as the {4-Diamonds} turn and {9-Clubs} river bricked the board.

Bardah Makes It Rain with a Double

Ronnie Bardah
Ronnie Bardah

From under the gun, Jeff "MrRain" Banghart raised to 58,000. Action folded to Ronnie "Ronasty" Bardah on the button and he reraised to 134,000. After the blinds folded, Banghart made the call.

The two of them saw the flop come down {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Banghart checked. Bardah slid out a bet of 163,000. After about 30 seconds, Banghart moved all in, having Bardah covered. Bardah tanked for a little bit and then made the call.

Bardah held the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and Banghart the {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}. Bardah's queens were in front and he needed to dodge a king or some miracle running cards to stay alive.

The turn card brought the {5-Hearts} and the river a clean {5-Spades}. Bardah made queens and fives to double up. After counting down his stack, Bardah doubled to over 1.8 million in chips. Banghart was left with 845,000.

The Mystery Flash

Four players took a flop of {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} just after play resumed. Action passed to Jacob Tyler, whose bet of 100,000 was called only by Michael Wywrot. With the other two players out of the way, Tyler and Wywrot were heads-up to a turn of {9-Clubs}. Tyler fired another 155,000 into the pot and again Wywrot called.

The river put a potential flush on board with the {2-Diamonds}. Tyler checked, then folded when Wywrot made a huge bet of 700,000. Wywrot flashed the {j-Spades} and said nothing as he collected the post.

Baldwin Busts Breeze

Breeze Zuckerman
Breeze Zuckerman

Breeze Zuckerman -- a.k.a. the last woman standing -- was just all in before the flop from under the gun with {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, but unfortunately for her ran into Eric "Basebaldy" Baldwin on the button who held {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, and there was a brief moment of confusion at the end for Zuckerman as it looked as though she might have a straight. Alas, Baldwin's hand was best, and she is out in 121st place.

Baldwin now has 1.3 million.

Guan Gone

Javier Martinez opened with a raise from the cutoff to 36,000, then Mozheng Guan reraised to 84,000 from the button. The blinds stepped aside, and Martinez made the call.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Martinez bet 110,000, Guan raised all in for 480,000 total, and Martinez made the call.

Martinez showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} while Guan tabled {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and the river the {5-Clubs}, and Guan was eliminated.

One For the Cameras

Okay, you'll no doubt see some of this hand on ESPN. It happened just before the break.

Table 372 has been going nuts today, and another all-in shout drew our attention over there once again. When we walked up, it was Ian Gordon all in for 1.035 million against Tony Dunst. We arrived just in time to see Gordon's sour look as he turned over his {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} against Dunst's {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}. A player across the table mentioned that he'd folded the last ace in the deck.

There was a long pause for the television crew to make their way over, and Dunst was chatty. "You have about a million, Ike?" Dunst had his opponent easily covered, but he was apparently concerned about the potential damage. And with good reason. The dealer burned a card, and Dunst was the one standing.

The {Q-Spades} peeked right in the window, and the dealer slowly peeled it sideways to reveal the {Q-Hearts} right below it! The full flop ran {5-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades}, and Dunst was drawing dead thanks to the last ace being safely in the muck already. The turn and river were the {2-Diamonds} and {2-Hearts}.

Thanks to that sickness, Gordon has found his unlikely double up. He's back over 2 million now, while Dunst has taken a big hit to put him down 900,000.
