Bob Slezak open-shoved all in for his last 7,800 chips from the button, and big blind Frank Rusnak made the quick call to put Slezak at risk, behind but drawing live:
Slezak:
Rusnak:
There was a friendly deuce on the flop of , pulling Slezak into the lead and two cards away from a double up. The on fourth street was safe, but the river was not so kind. The filled out the board, bringing the pot to Rusnak's pair of queens and eliminating Slezak from the tournament.
Joe Gotlieb and Iain Paterson pushed at each other preflop until all of Paterson's chips were in the middle. He turned up his hole cards, revealing , and he would soon see some bad news. The hot-running Gotlieb tabled .
Paterson found nothing much to sweat on board as the dealer spread out . Unable to improve, he has been eliminated.
In a battle of the blinds, Brandon Holmes raised to 6,200 from the small, and Alexander Dovzhenko reraised all in for 16,700 from the big. Holmes made the call with , and Dovzhenko was racing with .
And not racing well. We turned our backs just as the dealer killed the board, but we know that Holmes paired one of his cards to win the flip and knock off the Russian sensation in 37th place.
Michael Fong was knocked down to just 12,000 lonely chips after running his into the of Julie Farkas. The money went in when a king turned on fourth street, and Farkis' aces held to double her up to 85,000.
On the next hand, Fong got his remainder in preflop with , and he needed to fade the of James Dempsey. He could not. The board ran , and Flushy's full house knocks off Fong in 38th place.
Justin Young was all in on a flop of holding the overpair . Joe Gotlieb put him to the test with , and Young was in a good spot to notch an easy double.
Until...
The timely dropped right on fourth street, and JJ Liu said, "You're so lucky!" from across the table.
The river was a blank , and Young has been eliminated in sick two-out fashion.
Scott Montgomery raised to 4,400 from the cutoff seat, and he was called by all three players left behind him -- Scott Haraden, Steve Chanthabouasy, and Kenneth Krouner in that order.
The flop came , and the table checked to Haraden. He bet 10,000, drawing a check-raise all in to 31,500 from Chanthabouasy. Krouner ducked out of the way, but Montgomery made the call to see another card.
Fourth street brought the , and Montgomery tank-checked. Haraden insta-potted it, and Montgomery said, "Nice bluff sir, congratulations on winning nothing," as he folded his cards into the muck. That closed the action, and the cards were on their backs:
Haraden:
Chanthabouasy:
Life was good for Chanthabouasy, needing only to fade four outs to stay alive and more than triple up. When the river revealed a blank , he did just that, drawing the stacks of the three players closer to even.
