Esfandiari Needs a Rabbit and a Hat

Antonio Esfandiari raised to 15,000 before the flop, and Brian Rast called to see a flop.

It came out {9-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {6-Spades}, and Esfandiari continued out with a bet of 26,000. Rast raised to 75,000 straight, and Esfandiari moved all in over the top. Rast made the call for his own tournament life, and the cards were on their backs:

Rast: {K-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}
Esfandiari: {Q-Spades} {J-Spades}

Esfandiari was drawing, and Rast was looking to hold his top pair to double up. The turn {3-Diamonds} kept him safe, and so did the {A-Diamonds} river, and he does indeed double up. That pushes Rast all the way up to 466,000, leaving Esfandiari just 14,000 with which to try and mount a monumental comeback.

Jaka Fires Three Bullets

On a flop of {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} Faraz Jaka fired out 17,500 into a pot of around 28,000 with Nicholas Rampone making the call.

The turn landed the {2-Diamonds} and Jaka led for 42,000 with Rampone calling once again as the {j-Spades} fell on the river.

Jaka announced he was all in and moved his approximate 155,000-chip stack into the pot to prompt a fold from Rampone.

Four-Bet Shove For Kravchenko

Alexander Kravchenko bumped it to 11,000 from the button only to have Sam Stein three-bet to 30,500 from the big.

With the action on Kravchenko, he moved slid a stack of pink 5,000-denomination chips along with his four 25,000-denomination chips into the pot.

Stein mulled over his decision for a few moments before folding to Kravchenko's all in while slipping to under 170,000 in chips.

Smith Slips

Maxim Lykov opened to 7,500 from the button and Gavin Smith made the call.

The {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop was checked by Smith only to see Lykov fire out 8,500. Smith made the call as the {7-Clubs} on the turn was checked through to see the {7-Hearts} produced on the river.

Smith checked, Lykov fired out 28,500 and Smith folded and slipped below the 200,000-chip mark.

Rast is On a Boat

On a turned board reading {9-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {9-Spades}, Brian Rast let out with a pot-sized bet of 10,000. Antonio Esfandiari made the smooth call, and the two men watched a scary {10-Hearts} fill out the board.

Rast loaded again and fired 17,000 chips at the pot, and Esfandiari made the call once more. We wouldn't see his cards though; Rast turned up {J-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} for the full house and the pot. He's up to 285,000 now, pushing The Magician down to 195,000.

Jaka Loses Some Ground

The tail end of another pot:

The board showed {3-Clubs} {10-Spades} {8-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {6-Spades} when we walked up to the table, and there was about 30,000 in the pot. First to act, Faraz Jaka put out a healthy bet of 28,000. Without too much delay, Nicholas Rampone made the call.

Jaka just went ahead and mucked, and Rampone tabled his {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds} to take the pot and the chip lead.

Jaka - 185,000
Rampone - 295,000

Kozlovskiy KO'd By Kido

After an Anton Kozlovskiy open from the button, Kido Pham three-bet to 23,500 with Kozlovskiy making the call.

The flop fell down {5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Pham checked to Kozlovskiy who fired out 35,000. Pham then quickly tossed in a raise amounting to 110,000 only to have Kozlovskiy instantly move all in. Pham made the call to put Kozlovskiy at risk and we were off to a showdown.

Pham: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Kozlovskiy: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

With Kozlovskiy needing to catch one of his thirteen outs to stay alive, the {K-Spades} on the turn changed little, and after the {K-Diamonds} fell on the river, Kozlovskiy exited for a $17,987 payday as Pham moves into the final sixteen.

Rockets For Rousso

We're, shall we say, intrigued by the girl-on-girl action over at Table 323. Melanie Weisner and Vanessa Rousso are playing each other for the rights to call themselves the last woman standing here in Event #35.

We picked up the action in their battle as the dealer ran out a flop of {2-Spades} {J-Spades} {4-Hearts}. Rousso check-called a bet of 5,500 chips, and both ladies check-checked the {J-Hearts} turn. On the river, the {8-Hearts} drew another bet of 11,500 from Weisner, and Rousso check-called.

Ms. Rousso showed up {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}, and Ms. Weisner said simply, "Wow," as she released her cards into the muck.

Rousso has opened up a little lead with 290,000 chips to Weisner's 200,000.
