On a flop of , Antonio Esfandiari led out with a bet of 17,000 into a pot of nearly 30,000. Owen Crowe thought it over before raising to 52,000, and Esfandiari raised it right back. Crowe quickly got the rest of his chips in with , but he would soon find out he'd been out-flopped. Esfandiari turned up , two cards away from a win.
The turn and river did nothing to help Crowe's cause, and his elimination has pushed The Magician into the Round of 32.
On a flop of Ashton Griffin fired out 17,000 only to have Anton Kozlovskiy move all in. Griffin made the call to put his opponent at risk.
Griffin:
Kozlovskiy:
With Kozlovskiy needing any spade, eight, seven or deuce to stay alive, he would find the on the turn, followed by the meaningless on the river to double through to 155,000 as Griffin slips to 85,000 in chips.
With roughly only 35,000 remaining, Steve Gross found himself all in against Amritaj Singh.
Gross:
Singh:
The changed little as it kept Singh in the lead, but when the fell on the turn it cut Gross' outs to just three.
The on the river would seal Gross' fate as he fell shy of the money while Singh was a happy man high-fiving someone on the rail as he progressed through to the next round $17,987 richer.
Fabrizio Baldassari was all in for about 65,000 before the flop with , and Martin Kabrhel looked him up with .
The board ran out , and that's no help for Baldassari. He's been knocked off one win short of a payday, and Martin Kabrhel has advanced to the fourth round.
Josh Arieh has been eliminated after the final pot of his match was pushed to his opponent's stack.
Arieh was put all in on a board, and he called for his tournament life. We'd never see his cards though, as Maxim Lykov tabled the winning , his two pair knocking off Arieh and pushing the Russian through to the next round.
We walked up to the Sorel Mizzi match to see five cards already out on board showing .
Mizzi had checked on the river, and Matthew Waxman bet 21,000 into a pot of about 18,000. That left him with just 25,700 chips in his stack, and Mizzi promptly check-raised with a big covering stack of pink chips.
Waxman was gutted as he sunk in his chair, and he would spend almost five minutes in the tank. "I almost checked back the river too, that's the sick thing," he said, shooting a glance at Mizzi. Waxman held his cards over the muck, then pulled them back and made a motion with his chips. The he stopped and looked like he was going to muck again. Back and forth he went trying to get a read on Mizzi, but there was none to be had.
Finally, and with all the reluctance in the world, he rolled the rest of his chips into the pot. Mizzi tabled , and he said, "Good game," as he reached out his hand for the obligatory shake. Waxman slapped his into the muck, and he said, "Two outs, Sorel," as the two men shook hands.
Waxman is out, and Mizzi is on to tonight's Round of 32.
Jason Somerville and Tobias Reinkenmeier raised and re-raised preflop to eventually see Reinkenmeier all in for his last 91,400.
Reinkenmeier:
Somerville:
The board ran out a rather undramatic to see Reinkenmeier eliminated as Somerville progresses through to the round of thirty-two.
Both Vanessa Rousso and Terrence Chan put 3,200 in preflop to see a flop fall and Rousso fire out 4,000 from the button.
Chan check-called before both players checked the on the turn, followed by the on the river to see Rousso table her to take the pot from Chan.
The match is still evenly poised with only a few thousand splitting the two.
