Phillips Flops Flush

Dennis Phillips
Dennis Phillips
Joe Bishop limped from early position and the action folded around to Dennis Phillips in the big blind who raised it up to 250,000. Bishop made the call.

They saw a flop of {4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} and Phillips checked over to Bishop who fired out 550,000. Phillips made the call.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and again Phillips checked to Bishop who fired out 550,000. Phillips announced a check-raise of an additional 700,000. Bishop made the call as a big pot was brewing.

The river landed the {2-Spades} and Phillips led out for one million in chips. Bishop rose out of his chair and paced around in disbelief before declaring an emphatic "Call!"

Phillips flipped over {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the nut flush, as Bishop mucked his cards. Phillips is now up over nine million in chips with Bishop slipping to under two million.

Just One Pair

Owen Crowe raised to 160,000 from early position and Chris Klodnicki called from the small blind. The flop was {9-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds}. Klodnicki bet 250,000, Crowe raised to 600,000 and Klodnicki called. The river was the {10-Spades} and both players checked.

"I just got one pair," said Klodnicki turning over {A-Hearts} {A-Spades}. Crowe mucked and Klodnicki dragged the pot.

Matusow Watch

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow
Arguably the biggest name in the field, Mike Matusow, has been flying very much under the radar today.

"The Mouth" has really not gotten involved in big confrontations, double-ups, or epic showdowns today. He seems content to pick his spots and take the pots no one else wants, uncontested.

Matusow is still very much in the mix although he currently sits just below average with 3,800,000 in chips.

Peter Eastgate Power Play

Tim Loecke raised to 180,000 from early position and, after Nikolay Losev called, Peter Eastgate raised to 700,000 from the small blind. Loecke folded, but Losev made the call. The flop came {J-Spades} {8-Clubs} {8-Spades} and, when Eastgate moved a million chips into the pot, Losev tossed his hand away. He's now down to 3.12 million.

Tiffany Michelle Brings a Kicker to the Party

Tiffany Michelle
Tiffany Michelle
Action folded around to Cristian Dragomir in the small blind and he completed. Tiffany Michelle checked her big blind option and it was heads up to the flop.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Dragomir led out for 125,000. Michelle made what she called "a friendly call." The turn came the {A-Diamonds} and Dragomir fired again, this time for 175,000. Michelle made the call and the {K-Clubs} hit the river.

Dragomir slowed down and checked. Michelle bet 500,000 and Dragomir went into the tank. The two began an inaudible verbal exchange, the culmination of which had Dragomir loudly shouting, "I'm not folding!" as he pushed out the call.

Michelle looked as though she was beat and she turned over just the {8-Hearts}. Dragomir asked, "With what?" and Michelle exposed the {Q-Clubs}. Dragomir looked disgusted as he mucked {8-Clubs}{10-Spades} face-up. Michelle's kicker played and she took down the pot.

She is up to about 7,400,000 while Dragomir slips to roughly 2,300,000 in chips.

Dragomir Sailing With Full Boat

Cristian Dragomir
Cristian Dragomir
Cristian Dragomir opened with a raise from early position to 155,000. The action folded around with Albert Kim making the call in the big blind.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Kim led out for 225,000. Dragomir made the call.

The river was the {A-Clubs} and Kim slowed down and checked the action to Dragomir who thought for a moment before firing 470,000 into the middle. Kim made the call but Dragomir tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for a full house which was good to capture the huge pot as Kim mucked his cards. Dragomir sails his way to a total of 3.1 million in chips.

Kelly Kim Dodges Riesenberg's Quads

Kelly Kim raised to180,000 from middle position, Jason Riesenberg called from the cutoff and Peter Eastgate called from the button. The flop was {7-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. Kim checked, Riesenberg bet 400,000, Eastgate folded and Kim called. The turn was the {7-Spades} and both players checked. The river was the {2-Diamonds}. Kim bet 600,000, and Riesenberg moved all in for an additional 980,000, sending Kim into the tank.

"Will you show if I fold?" Kim asked after thinking for nearly five minutes. Riesenberg didn't say a word.

Kim ultimately open-mucked his {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. Riesenberg obliged and showed his {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} for quads.

Kim is down to 7.5 million while Riesenberg is up to 3.9 million.

Phi Nguyen Doubles Through Greg Byard

Phi Nguyen
Phi Nguyen
Action folded around to Greg Byard in the cutoff seat and he raised to 180,000. Phi Nguyen pushed all in from the big blind for a total of 505,000 and Byard made the call. The players showed:

Byard: {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}
Nguyen: {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}

The flop came {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {4-Spades} and Nguyen's pair of eights were still best. The turn brought a little drama as it fell the {7-Hearts} but the river was the {3-Clubs} and Byard's ace high was no good.

Nguyen doubled up to just over 1,100,000 and left Byard with about 750,000 chips.

The Screws Tighten

The mood in the room after the dinner break is very quiet and subdued, and Owen Crowe said, "It's starting to get a little intense around here."

"I know," Dean Hamrick said, "It's like there's $9 million on the line or something."
