David Benefield - 73rd Place
David Benefield - 73rd Place
Brandon Cantu raised to 100,000 from middle position and David Benefield called. The flop came {10-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {8-Hearts}, Cantu bet 200,000 and Benefield called. When the {7-Clubs} fell on the turn Cantu checked and Benefield led out for 335,000 and Cantu moved all in. Benefield thought it over for about ten seconds before making the call and turned over {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts} for the straight. Cantu held {A-Clubs} {9-Hearts} for the pair and flush draw and on the river Brandon spiked the {6-Clubs} to make the flush and eliminate Benefield.

Terry Lade Doubles Through Victor Ramdin

Victor Ramdin limped from middle position and Terry Lade moved all in for 940,000 from the cutoff. Ramdin called and his {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} were racing against Lade's {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. The {10-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} gave Ramdin the nut flush draw, but the {Q-Hearts} on the turn gave Lade a set. It also gave Ramdin a gutshot straight draw, but the river brought paint of the wrong variety--the {K-Spades}. Lade doubled to 1.97 million and Ramdin was left with just 330,000.

Jamal Sawaqdeh Eliminated in 74th Place ($77,200)

Jamal Sawaqdeh - 74th Place
Jamal Sawaqdeh limped in before Jamal Kunbuz raised it up to 125,000. Chris Crilly flat-called in the small blind, as did Sawaqdeh.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Crilly moved all in for about 775,000. Sawaqdeh called for his tournament life, and Kunbuz, who covered both players, also made the call.

Kunbuz: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Crilly: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Sawaqdeh: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} to give Crilly a two-outer and the river was the {K-Hearts}. Sawaqdeh is eliminated in 74th place.

Crilly takes the huge pot to almost triple up to 2.7 million, with Kunbuz slipping back to under 2 million.

Gert Andersen Doubles Through Mark Ketteringham

Gert Andersen - Day 5
Gert Andersen - Day 5
Action folded to Mark Ketteringham in the cutoff seat and he raised to 85,000. Gert Andersen reraised to 250,000 from the button and action folded back to Ketteringham, who moved all in. Andersen called and the players showed:

Ketteringham: {K-Spades} {J-Spades}
Andersen: {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}, and Andersen's aces were best. He doubled up to about 2,500,000 chips leaving Ketteringham with roughly 3,400,000.

With Lisa Parsons' elimination in 76th place, Poker News' own Tiffany Michelle is officially the last woman standing in the 2008 WSOP Main Event, taking the crown from her good friend, Maria Ho, who did the same in last year's Main Event, where she ultimately finished 38th.

Michelle's stack currently stands at just over 3.4 million.

Be Careful What You Don't Wish For

Jason Glass moved all in for his last 287,000 with {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} and Paul Snead called from the big blind with {4-Clubs} {4-Spades}, a hand that left Glass in bad shape.

The flop came {9-Spades} {5-Hearts} {K-Spades}, the turn the {3-Spades}, so Snead had a flush draw now to go with his pair. But the wheel draw for Glass was now apparent and Snead said, "Don't make it a red deuce!"

And on the river...the {2-Diamonds}.

Glass made his wheel, doubled up to 620,000, and Snead's now down to 1.2 million.

Prabhu Wins Without a Showdown

Phi Nguyen opened for 90,000 from middle position and Suresh Prabhu called from the cutoff. The flop was {Q-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. Nguyen led out for 130,000 and Prabhu called. The turn was the {K-Hearts}. Nguyen checked, Prabhu bet 100,000 and Nguyen called. The river was the {10-Clubs}. Nguyen checked again, Prabhu bet 200,000 and Nguyen folded. Prabhu won without a showdown and increased his stack to 1,070,000. Nguyen was left with 1,180,000.
