Steve Wong Eliminated

After a ten-high flop, Steve Wong and his opponent both checked, and when another low card came on the turn Wong moved in for his last 10,000. His opponent called with {A-?} {Q-?} and that had Wong's {K-?} {8-?} beat. Wong didn't connect with the river and he was eliminated.

Mahle Sent Up the River

Paul Mahle was all in with his short stack of 4,000 chips holding {A-Hearts} {10-Spades}. He got some action from Tommy Le, who showed down {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. Things were looking good for a Mahle double up for the first four cards. The board ran out {9-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {K-Spades}, though, and the river card spelled the end for Mahle.

Kyle Kloeckner Eliminated

According to the players at Kloeckner's table, Kloeckner went all in preflop and was called by a player in the six seat. Kloeckner held {6-?} {6-?} and his opponent held {A-?} {A-?}. The board improved neither player and Kyle Kloeckner has been eliminated.

The Evelyn Side

Evelyn in Day 1
Evelyn in Day 1
John Sentas raises to 2,400 in middle position and Evelyn Ng reraises to 6,900 in the hijack. Sentas shoves all in over the top for 24,000 and Evelyn calls.

Evelyn: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Sentas: {A-Spades}{6-Hearts}

The board runs out {2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Sentas is eliminated. Evelyn has 116,000.

Now That's a Cooler

Set over set is such a deadly situation for the person on the bottom end. The latest victim of that scenario was Heather Escuin, who checked on the river with the board showing {5-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {A-Clubs}. Her opponent bet 25,000. Escuin came over the top with an all-in check-raise that her opponent called in a shot. Escuin showed pocket twos for a full house, twos full of queens, but her opponent had pocket fives for a full house, fives full of queens.

That hand knocked Escuin back to 73,000.

What the Hellmuth Does He Have?

Matt Vengrin opens the action with a raise to 2,400 from middle position. The player on the button calls, and action is on Phil Hellmuth in the small blind. He comes over the top with a reraise to 9,900. The original raiser puts in a third raise to 20,000, which is enough to force out the button caller. Hellmuth is not so easily deterred though. He pushes all in for a little more than 100,000 total. Vengrin has 40,000 chips behind and a tough decision to make. After a minute or two, he folds showing {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.

Hellmuth tells his opponent that he had one of three hands: {A-?}{A-?}, {K-?}{K-?}, or {A-?}{K-?}. That seemed enough to satisfy Vengrin, and he lives to fight another day. Hellmuth, meanwhile, has chipped up to 130,000.

Russian Cruise Control

Kirill Gerasimov has steadily moved up to 120,000. He seems to be controlling his table with pressure reraise moves. It seems he's always in position and he hasn't shown a hand down that we've caught yet.

He just took one pot down with a reraise preflop, then moments later he took down another pot with a hefty reraise on the flop.

You Need a Bigger Boat

Joe Hachem
Joe Hachem
With the board reading {7-Spades} {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {8-Spades} Joe Hachem checked and his opponent bet 3,200. Hachem min-raised to 6,400 and got a call. The {Q-Spades} fell on the river, Hachem bet 12,000 and his opponent again called. And that's when Joe showed {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts} for the full house and took down a pot that pushed his stack up to 62,400.
