Foucault's Pendulum Swings Upward

A player limped from under the gun, and Andrew "Foucault" Brokos raised to 450 from middle position. It folded back around and the preflop limper called.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{A-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Both players checked. The turn was the {4-Hearts}. The UTG player checked, Brokos bet 1,500, and his opponent called.

The river brought the {2-Clubs}. The UTG player again checked, and Brokos asked to see his chip stack. He looked to have about 12,000 behind. Brokos then bet 3,500, and his opponent let it go.

Brokos has moved up to 39,000.

Batista Tilts and Busts

Chad Batista - event #38
Chad Batista - event #38
The flop was {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} when Jordan Mayers and Chad Batista had it all in. Batista held the best hand in {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. Mayers had {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}. The turn came the {4-Diamonds} and then the river the {K-Diamonds}.

Mayers yelled out, "Yes!" after he won the hand and Batista stood up and muttered some words to himself with a half smile.

On the next hand, Batista shoved in out of turn and without looking at his cards. Everyone mucked.

The following hand, Batista quickly checks his cards and then shoves again. Mayers calls. Batista showed {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} and Mayers had {A-Spades} {K-Spades}. The board ran out {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} and Batista ended up making a flush.

On the next hand, Batista shoved all in on the turn when the board read {10-Clubs} {9-Spades} {4-Spades} {3-Hearts} holding {7-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. A player called him with {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} and the river came the {3-Spades}, sending Batista to the rail.

Sabres Rattle, No Blood Drawn

Minh Nguyen raised to 700 and Mel Judah raised to 2,700. Nguyen folded {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} face up, and Judah showed {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}. What might've been a substantial confrontation was thus defused and Judah gathered up a smattering of chips.

Griffin the Stuff of Legend

A middle-position player limps in and a late-position player raises to 1,200. Gavin Griffin reraises to 3,550 all in. MP folds and LP calls.

LP shows {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and Griffin shows {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. The board runs {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Griffin is eliminated.

Townsend Wins Race

Right before the break, Brian Townsend made it 600 to go preflop and a player on the button moved all in for 2,500 more. Townsend called and showed A-K and was up against his opponent's pocket fives. Townsend turned a king and his opponent failed to improve.

Townsend is currently at 54,800 in chips.

We're Back

Cards are in the air once again. If staff follows form, we should be getting an announcement about total registrants for today before too long.

Hickey Leaves His Mark Again

The cutoff limped as did the small blind and then Travis Hickey raised the action to 1,200 from the big blind. The cutoff called and the small blind folded.

The flop came down {7-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. "That's a pretty good flop for me," said Hickey. He then checked. The cutoff bet 1,000 and Hickey quickly called.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and both players checked. The river brought the {J-Diamonds} and Hickey checked. The cutoff fired 2,000 and Hickey quickly called and then immediately turned up {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}. His opponent slid his cards towards the center of the table face down and Hickey scooped the pot.
