Presto for the Pixie

Anna "the Poker Pixie" Wroblewski raised to 600 from the cutoff. It folded back to Jeremiah Smith in the big blind. "It's fun min-raising your blinds," Wroblewski joked. Smith called.

Both checked the {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop. The turn was the {7-Hearts}. Smith checked, Wroblewski bet 500, and Smith called.

The river was the {10-Clubs}. Smith checked again, and this time Wroblewski bet 1,500. "God, you hit the ten on me," said Smith as he folded, showing the {7-Spades} as he did.

Wroblewski showed {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for fives full as she dragged the pot. She's now up to 29,000.

Not the Summer of George

The Jerk Store Called...
The Jerk Store Called...
A player under the gun limps in. The hijack calls and Jason Alexander bumps it to 900 in the big blind. Both call.

The flop is {3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Alexander bets 1,200. Both call.

The turn is {5-Hearts} and Alexander checks. The under the gun player bets 3,750 and the hijack raises all in for 5,900. Alexander calls and UTG reraises, also all in. Alexander calls all in for 25,000.

UTG has {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Alexander has {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Hijack has {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The river is {6-Clubs} and Alexander and the hijack player are both eliminated.

Lester in His Stack Now

Jason Lester raised from the cut off and only found a call from the player in the small blind. The flop came {K-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}.

The small blind player led out for 2,000 and Lester called before the turn came {Q-Clubs}.

Again the small blind player led out, this time for 4,000 and again Lester called.

The river {4-Diamonds} brought more of the same, the bet going back down to 2,000 though.

Lester mucked upon seeing the small blind's {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} for two-pair and is back down to 29,500.

Rogers Eliminates Another

Preflop, Jonah Rogers called a 900 chip raise. On a flop of {7-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {2-Spades}, Rogers checked and his opponent bet 2,500. Rogers then check-raised 6,000 more. His opponent went in for slightly over Roger's 6,000 raise and Rogers called.

Rogers held {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} and his opponent held {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. The turn fell the {9-Hearts} and river the {10-Spades} and Roger's aces up were good enough to eliminate another opponent.

After the hand, Rogers is up to 86,200.

Lee Markholt Doulbes Up

Lee Markholt - Event #43
Lee Markholt - Event #43
We caught up to this hand on the flop. The board read {8-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} and Lee Markholt had all his chips in the center against a lone opponent. The player tabled {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} but Markholt's {6-Hearts} {6-Spades} had him beat.

The turn and river came the {2-Diamonds} and {10-Spades} respectively and Markholt's set held. He doubled up to just under 35,000 on the hand.

Death Ray

Ray Needed More Heart
Ray Needed More Heart
Four limpers with Raymond Rahme in the hijack, and the flop is {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Everyone checks to a player in middle position, who bets 800. Rahme raises to 8,100 all in. Everyone else folds. The opponent calls with {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} to Rahme's {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

The turn and river are {Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Rahme doesn't get the heart he needed. He is out.

Dirksen Keeps On Keepin' On

With 2,400 in the pot preflop, Dustin Dirksen bet 1,500 on a flop of {8-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {4-Spades}. His opponent called from the button. When the turn came {7-Spades}, Dirksen checked, then called a bet of 2,000. He led out again for 2,500 on the river {Q-Spades}. His opponent tanked for three minutes before calling the river bet. Whatever he had in the hole couldn't beat Dirksen's two pair that he made with {Q-Hearts} {4-Hearts}.

Dirksen now has about 50,000 in chips.

A Familiar Chorus

"All in and call on 29!"

"All in and call on 24!"

This chorus is growing more and more familiar as the minutes tick away off the tournament clock. After only four hours and twelve minutes of play we've already lost close to 200 of our approximately 1,310 Day 1A starters.

Phil Galfond Crippled

<Insert "OMG" Joke Here>
<Insert "OMG" Joke Here>
Phil Galfond just took an unfortunate but common beat. Galfond got his money in good on a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {8-Clubs} and was called by a slightly shorter stack. Galfond showed {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} which was ahead of the {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} of his opponent.

Galfond looked to chip up and send a player home, but the {K-Diamonds} on the turn spoiled those plans. The river hit both players coming the {Q-Spades} but Galfond's trips queens came up short against his opponent's full house. He slipped to just under 4,000 chips on the hand.
