Sass Catches Runners

Jon Van Fleet led out from early position for 16,000 and Alan Sass quickly shoved all-in for his remaining 100,000. Fleet made the call and showed {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} while Sass was out kicked with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}. The flop came {5-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {J-Spades} and Van Fleet appeared to be in good shape. But the turn brought the {6-Diamonds} followed by the {8-Diamonds} on the river, giving Sass a running flush and crippling Van Fleet to just 3,500. After the hand, Sass is up to 225,000.

John Juanda Eliminated

From the late position, John Juanda made it 17,000 to go and Peter Gould raised to 71,000. Juanda made the call and the flop came {Q-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. Juanda moved all-in for his remaining 91,000 and Gould called. Juanda showed {K-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} while Gould held pocket tens. The tens held up for Gould and Juanda was eliminated in 27th place.

Shuffle Up and Draw

We've managed to make the final twenty-seven players of Event #5, meaning it's time for a table redraw. Many players had been comfortable at their current tables, so we'll see how, if at all, this mixing will change things up.

The Felt is Always Greener

James "apestyles" Van Fleet and Adam "Roothlus" Levy were talking just before the break about how their table is heavy with top online players--Jeff "yellowsub86" Williams and Alan "TheUsher" Sass are also seated there--and how tough the table is. They said it was playing like the $109 rebuy event at PokerStars, known for being a brutal tournament. They looked over at the next table--the one where Daniel Negreanu, Michael Binger, and Clonie Gowen are playing--and talked about how they'd rather be playing there.
