Ten Ladies and Five World Champions

There are ten (only ten!) women remaining in the field out of our 458 remaining players including Mimi Tran, Amanda Baker, Veronica Dabol, Pamela Brunson, and Maria Ho. There are also five WSOP Main Event Champions still in the running -- Berry Johnston (1986), Huckleberry Seed (1996), Scotty Nguyen (1998), Carlos Mortensen (2001) and Robert Varkonyi (2002).

What Happens *After* a Player's Last Hand

Bruno Fitoussi sits on 'Skid Row' after his elimination from the Main Event
When somebody busts from the Main Event, we've already mentioned that they must wait for a runner to bring them a slip of paper indicating the order of their finish. Then someone escorts them to the payout room, and takes their ID and player's card while they wait outside the room in "Skid's Row."

As soon as there's an opening in the payout room, someone steps outside and calls for the player by name. Bruno Fitoussi, pictured here, muttered, "I feel like I'm at the dentist."

Not everyone feels that way. Shirley Williams, the mother of professional player David Williams, was extremely excited about her 465th-place finish. Like many non-professional players, she was just excited to cash in the Main Event, slightly more than doubling her money (before taxes, of course).

Speaking of taxes, all that dirty work is handled inside the payout room.

New Chip Leader

Jeff "Mr. Rain" Banghart- New Chip Leader
Jeff "Mr. Rain" Banghart- New Chip Leader
Jeff "Mr. Rain" Banghart has just retaken the mantle of "chip leader." He just took a huge pot off Josh Evans.

With the board reading {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades},{2-Spades} and 100,000 already in the pot, the action on the turn went like this:

Banghart checked from the small blind position, Evans bet out 60,000 and Jeff raised to 122,000. Evans reraised to 200,000 and Jeff immediately made it 350,000.

Evans went into the tank for a long time before releasing the hand.

Lance Allred Eliminated

Lance Allred raised to 13,500 from the small blind, Jason Glass moved all in for 93,500 from the big blind, and Allred insta-called. Allred tabled {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} while Glass showed {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. The flop was {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, making Glass a full house. The turn was the {10-Spades}, the river was the {7-Hearts}, and Allred was eliminated from the Main Event.

After the hand, Glass was up to 160,000.
