Tiffany Michelle and Kirk Morrison
Tiffany Michelle and Kirk Morrison
PokerNews grabbed Kirk Morrison on break from day 3 of the Main Event as we approach the bubble here at the Main Event. We chatted with Kirk about a big hand that set him up for a run into the money after being down to 7k in chips early in the tournament and how he adjusts his bubble play specifically for the Main Event. Kirk's first TV appearance (his final table in the $5k Mixed Hold'em event) aired Tuesday, so we got his thoughts on how it turned out and about media attention for poker players in general.

Humberto Brenes Doubles Up

Three players, including Humberto Brenes limped in and saw a flop of {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}. The big blind bet 15,000 and only Brenes called. The turn was the {6-Hearts}. The big blind bet 38,500, the exact amount remaining in Brenes' stack, and Brenes called instantly.

"You got me" said the big blind, showing {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

Brenes turned over {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and starting waving his famous "Chark" around, saying something about how the shark might be hungry as the ESPN cameras swarmed.

The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Brenes doubled up to 153,000.

Last Longer?

Both Shirley Williams, and Jane Gold outlasted their poker pro sons David and Jamie. It leads one to wonder, were there any last-longer bets in the Williams and Gold households.

"Woooo!"

Flop: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Bob Lauria pushed all-in on the flop against a single opponent. His opponent called and showed pocket tens while Lauria showed {8-Spades}{5-Spades}. The turn was the {7-Spades} and the river was the {K-Spades}, giving Lauria the flush. The other player was eliminated and Lauria became overly excited. He began yelling and cheering at the top of his lungs until Nolan announced over the speakers, "Someone get that man a Milwaukee's Best. And make it a cold one."

Gigabet Scores One from Tran

Kenny Tran raised 17,000. Darrell "Gigabet" Dicken called. The flop was {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Gigabet check-called a 50,000 bet from Tran. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river was the {A-Spades}. Gigabet checked and Tran bet 80,000. Gigabet went into the tank for a few minutes before he called. He showed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} and Tran mucked.
