Sexton Calls An All-In

Mike Sexton decided to call his opponent's 4,500 all in on a flop of {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Sexton turned up A-9 and was well ahead of his opponent's A-6. The turn was the {4-Hearts}, the river was the {J-Diamonds} and Sexton's kicker played to take the pot.

He was up to 32,000 after the hand.

Star Power

Imagine showing up to play on Day One of the WSOP Main Event and seeing a sign on your table that says "Report To The Final Table Area". Meaning that you're going to be sitting amidst the lights and cameras and surrounded by spectators watching your ever move.

And then, after you've dealt with THOSE jitters, the lone empty seat at your table is filled by none other than "Texas Dolly" himself. Doyle Brunson, one of the biggest names in the game, is sitting at the feature table to start off ESPN's coverage of the Main Event.

Team G

Mike Giordano is the leader of Team G. There are nine of them playing today. His group is easy to spot since they are all wearing matching red shirts. They are a group of Democrats and Giordano has a donkey (about the size of a water bottle) as his card capper. The donkey is the symbol of the Democratic Party.

Terrence Chan Takes a Nice Pot

With the board reading {2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{4-Spades} Chan led out for 1,200 and his opponent said, "You play pretty solid, so..." and just called. The {3-Diamonds} fell on the river and after the other player led out for 2,000 Chan made it 5,000 total to go. The other player called and had an Ace for the wheel, but Chan had {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the six-high straight to take a pot that put him up to 24,000.

PokerNews Video: Ciarin O'Leary

PokerNews grabbed bracelet winner Ciarin O'Leary (who took down the first No-limit event of the 2007 WSOP) on first break from his Day 1 of the Main Event to chat about how despite what you might think, already winning a bracelet this series actually ADDS some pressure to perform in the Main Event.

Click here to check out the interview with Big C, along with all the other videos from this event.
