Huck Likes Big Slick

Huckleberry Seed
Huckleberry Seed
An under the gun player moved all-in for 3,200 and Huck Seed made the call. Huck turned over A-K while his opponent turned over A-9. Neither player paired a card and Huck's A-K held up. After the hand, Huck is up to 42,500.

A Bracelet or a Cup?

Maxime Talbot
Maxime Talbot
It's been a good week for Pittsburgh Penguin center Maxime Talbot. Yesterday he signed a new 2-year contract with the Pens, and today he's playing in the Main Event. Talbot won his seat by winning a tournament that featured other NHL stars like Martin Brodeur, Simon Gagne, and Sheldon Souray.

When asked last week about his poker skills Talbot modestly said, "Actually, I'm pretty bad." But so far things have gone all right for Max. He built his stack up to around 37,000 before slipping back to around 16,000 at the dinner break. And if there's one skill that translates well from hockey to poker, it's grinding out a result.

Johnny Chan Eliminated

Johnny Chan
Johnny Chan
A player raises from early position to 1,200, another player calls from middle position, Johnny Chan calls from the cutoff, and the big blind calls.

The flop comes {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, the big blind checks, the early raiser bets 1,200, the middle position player folds, Chan calls all in for 600, the big blind raises to 3,000, and the early raiser folds.

Chan shows {A-Spades}{K-Spades}, and his opponent shows {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a pair of tens. Chan is dominated, and needs to catch an ace or something runner-runner to survive.

The turn card is the {7-Spades}, and Chan picks up a flush draw to go with his ace.

But the river card is the {10-Diamonds}, giving his opponent trip tens to win the pot, and a story to bore his family and friends with for years, as he busts 10-bracelet winner, two-time WSOP Champion Johnny Chan.

David Lerner: Table Captain

David Lerner is one of those "running commentary" types of players. He's been chatting away all day. "No raises! Just calls! Keep it friendly!" he says. After he wins a pot, he feigns disappointment. "Ohh nooo!" he says, as he runs his chips through his hands like they represent his lifeblood. He's doing fine at 55,000.
