Jachtmann Busts Carlsen

Level 6 : 200/400, 0 ante
Claus Carlsen
Claus Carlsen

Jan-Peter Jachtmann was part of a limped pot and Claus Carlsen then raised to 2,200 with 6,625 behind. Only Jachtmann called and they saw the flop {Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Jachtmann checked and Carlsen bet 5,000 to call the all in with a pair of kings. Jachtmann held the {A-Diamonds}{Q-}{10-}{4-Diamonds} for two pair and a blank {J-} turn and {6-} river filled up the board.

Fellow Dane Mikkel Plum is also very short-stacked. He called a raise to 1,200 and then gave up after the flop to drop into the red zone of 10 big blinds.

Thomas Bichon raised the pot prefflop and received four callers including Timo Schneider from one seat over. On an eight-high flop with two spades, Bichon continued for 8,000 and Schneider shoved for 20,000 with a pair of nines and the {A-Spades}{4-Spades} for the nut flush draw.

Bichon made the call with two pair and the second nut flush draw to hold up with two blanks filling up the board.

Generation Smart Phone

Level 6 : 200/400, 0 ante

Jesper Hougaard is playing poker on his phone and most of the other players in also regularly checked their phones during the first six levels of tonight. Alexandar Denishev only arrived half an hour ago but did the same thing straight after taking down a three-way pot on the flop {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

Vasili Firsau and John Kabbaj had checked to the Bulgarian and he took it down with a bet of 2,300.

Bichon Says the Truth

Level 6 : 200/400, 0 ante

On the river of a {5-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades} board, Thomas Bichon said "I have the winning hand, I check" and Artur Schreiner then bet 500. "You don't believe me, we Corsicans never lie" the Frenchman continued and then raised it up to 5,000. Schreiner said something along the lines of having a straight with six and seven while Bichon claimed to "have an ace in my hand and the straight with jack-ten."

Schreiner eventually called and was shown {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} or the nut straight, revealing his own {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs} as well.- Bichon also took a bigger pot off Jerome Sgorrano as well to send the Belgian back to starting stack.

Sgorrano Takes a Bad Spot

Level 6 : 200/400, 0 ante
Jerome Sgorrano
Jerome Sgorrano

Just before the end of the level, Jerome Sgorrano raised to 1,000 and was called three ways before the action reached Lukas Nemec in the big blind. The Czech squeezed to 6,000 and Sgorrano raised the pot to 21,000. The other players folded and Nemec got his stack in for 24,600, Sgorrano called it off.

Sgorrano: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Nemec: {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The flop fell {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Clubs} and gave Nemec top set, leaving Sgorrano with back door outs on the flush or a ten only. Neither of it came as the {2-Clubs} turn and {6-Hearts} river completed the board.

Firsau Busts Denishev

Level 7 : 300/600, 0 ante

Only a few minutes ago, Alexandar Denishev had asked the tournament director how many levels would be played still. And then suddenly his seat was empty and the Bulgarian had just sent over his entire stack to Vasili Firsau. The Belorussian confirmed what happened as follows.

On a ten-high flop with two hearts, both players checked. Denishev then check-raised the {9-} turn from 2,500 to 10,000 and called the shove of Firsau with two pair and a jack-high flush draw. Firsau held {7-}{8-} for a straight and the river blanked.

Small Pot for Jachtmann

Level 7 : 300/600, 0 ante

On the river of an ace-high board, Dimitri Holdeew bet 1,800 into Jan-Peter Jachtmann and the latter eventually called with {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for two pair. Holdeew had been caught bluffing with just a pair of nines and dropped some chips, however he is still among the current top five big stacks.
