In fewer than six and a half hours on the final day, the 2022 World Series of Poker International Circuit crowned a champion in the €1,700 Main Event at the King's Resort in Rozvadov. Out of a field of 808 entries, Turkey's Feyzullah Karaarslan prevailed in heads-up against Aleksandar Tomovic to claim the biggest slice of the €1,189,780 prize pool and his first WSOP Circuit gold ring.

For his efforts, Karaarslan walked away with a cash prize of €204,053 while Tomovic had to settle for a consolation prize. Both also received an entry to the 2022 WSOP Europe €10,350 Main Event as part of a year-long promotion in Europe's biggest poker arena. The top 12 finishers in the tournament all received the ticket and will be back in late 2022 for the pinnacle poker event of the year at the King's Resort.

Local player Roman Chochola finished in third place and among the finalists were also three Italians including 2021 WSOPE bracelet winner Simone Andrian. He came into the day as one of the shortest stacks and fell shy of another victory at the venue, bowing out in 8th place.

Dutchman Ronnie Lemmens entered the day as the chip leader ahead of Karaarslan and Tomovic. He was one of the most active finalists despite complaining to the rail that he had "no hands to play with" and proceeded to live and die by the sword. Ultimately, he was eliminated by Chochola in fourth place for a decent six-figure payday.

While Lemmens retained the top spot during the early stages, the two Italian short stacks Michael Ugucctoni and Andrian were never able to get things going to become the first two casualties. Once Sharon Sade was eliminated in 7th place, the ladder-up of Do Tran ended in a flip when ace-king flopped best but Chochola hit running cards to a flush.

Veteran player Claudio Di Giacomo was handcuffed in the middle of the pack and succumbed in fifth place to miss out on a repeat victory for Italy in this WSOP International Circuit stop. Chochola took over the lead in three-handed play but went from hero to zero in half an hour.

While heads-up play was very deep at the start, the gloves went off right away between the most aggressive and the most experienced contender among the final nine. Ultimately, the duel one-versus-one lasted all but 15 minutes and it was Karaarslan who prevailed in an aggressive four-bet pot.

Feyzullah Karaarslan made it 650,000 to go on the button and Aleksandar Tomovic three-bet to 1,800,000. The rather swift four-bet to 4,150,000 by Karaarslan followed and Tomovic opted to call for more than one third of his remaining stack.

All the chips went in after the {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop on which Tomovic check-jammed all-in for the 7,400,000 he had behind and was called by Karaarslan.

Aleksandar Tomovic: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Feyzullah Karaarslan: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The {6-Diamonds} turn gave Tomovic a flush draw as well while Karaarslan picked up an additional gutshot. It came to an end with the {6-Clubs} river to eliminate Tomovic in second place for €127,017. Karaarslan sunk back in his chair to pause for a moment before shaking hands with his opponents. It was the first major victory for Karaarslan as he receives the gold ring, €204,053 top prize and entry to the 2022 WSOP Europe Main Event ticket worth €10,350.

Karaarslan Pulls Further Ahead

Level 31 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Aleksandar Tomovic raised the button with the {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} and Feyzullah Karaarslan called in the big blind with the {k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. They headed to the {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop and Karaarslan check-called a bet worth 650,000 with the bottom pair. Both checked the {2-Hearts} turn and the {4-Clubs} river went check, check, too.

Heads-Up Play Starts With Advantage for Karaarslan

Level 31 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

In the first hand of heads-up play, the flop showed {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Feyzullah Karaarslan bet 625,000 with the {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for the second pair. Aleksandar Tomovic called with the {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for the top pair but fell behind on the {k-Hearts} turn. The Serbian bet 2,400,000 and Karaarslan only called with the two pair.

Ultimately, the {q-Diamonds} river brought a check by Tomovic and Karaarslan bet 5,000,000 for half the pot. No call by Tomovic followed as Karaarslan extended his lead right away, he also showed his cards. "I was better on the flop," Tomovic remarked.

Aleksandar Tomovic raised it up to 575,000 on the button and Roman Chochola three-bet jammed in the small blind for 4,700,000. Once it was back on Tomovic, he snap-called an Chochola turned over to his rail in disgust right away when the cards had been turned over.

Roman Chochola: {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Aleksandar Tomovic: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The dominated ace found no help on the {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs} as the kicker played to send Chochola out in third place.

"I think you lost it with nine-ten," Tomovic told Chochola when they shook hands. Both remaining players then went on a 15-minute break prior to the start of the heads-up duel.

Tomovic Doubles Through Chochola

Aleksandar Tomovic opened to 575,000 on the button with the {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Roman Chochola three-bet to 1,600,000 with the {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} in the small blind. After some consideration, Tomovic called with 4,400,000 behind. The {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop was checked by both and the {a-Diamonds} followed on the turn.

Chochola double-checked his cards and bet 2,000,000, then instantly called the shove by Tomovic.

With the gutshot and nut flush draw at his disposal, Chochola had plenty of outs but missed on the {5-Clubs} river to become the shortest stack.

Roman Chochola opened the button to 575,000 with the {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and received a call from Feyzullah Karaarslan with the {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. The latter hit best on the {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop and checked, Chochola checked it back. After the {5-Spades} turn, Karaarslan bet and Chochola gave up.

Feyzullah Karaarslan

Aleksandar Tomovic raised to 550,000 on the button with the {k-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Roman Chochola in the small blind three-bet to 1,600,000 with the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Feyzullah Karaarslan called out of the big blind with the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Tomovic folded.

The flop fell {k-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Chochola went for the check-raise fro 1,500,000 to 4,000,000. Karaarslan counted his remaining T-500,000 chips and opted for the call. What followed was the {a-Spades} on the turn and Chochola checked for his opponent to check back. That led them to the {5-Hearts} on the turn and Chochola almost immediately glanced down on his chips.

The Czech, however, opted to check eventually and Karaarslan checked it back to win the 12 million pot.

Feyzullah Karaarslan raised on the button to 625,000 with the {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Aleksandar Tomovic called with the {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs} out of the small blind. On a flop of {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Tomovic checked and Karaarslan took it down with a continuation bet of 625,000.

Shortly after, Tomovic limped with the {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts} out of the small blind and Roman Chochola raised to 775,000 with the {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. Tomovic opted for the fold and dropped further down in the pecking order.
