McNabola Grabs a Few from Waaland

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

After winning that big all-in versus Paul Snead, Cory Waaland was soon open-raising to 60,000 from the cutoff, and the action folded to John McNabola in the small blind. McNabola then made a small reraise to 110,000, and after studying that for a moment Kevin Saul folded his big blind.

As Waaland contemplated McNabola's action, conversation revealed that he hadn't noticed Waaland's original raise when he made his bet. "Don't let that affect your decision, though," cracked McNabola. "It does a little," confided Waaland.

Finally Waaland reraised to 225,000, and McNabola called without much hesitation. The flop then came {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and again McNabola acted quickly by declaring he was all in.

Waaland tanked for a short while, then inquired the floor about the possibility of showing his hand before acting. He was told he couldn't without receiving a penalty, and so after a few moments more Waaland mucked. McNabola showed one card — the {10-Diamonds} — and collected the pot.

"Biggest Race of my Life"

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded aroubd to Cory Waaland in the cutoff and he shipped for 501,000. Paul Snead looked down at his cards on the button and liked what he say as he made the call. The blinds got out of the way and it was off to the races.

Snead: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Waaland: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

"Biggest race of my life," Waaland said as he rose from his chair. He tired not to watch the flop, but he couldn't help himself and looked back after the dealer put down the {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Waaland began to pace back and forth as the dealer put out the {J-Clubs} turn and {2-Hearts} river. Waaland came out on stop and clapped his hands in celebration.

"That's the best medicine right there," Waaland said. "Adrenaline!"

Foulkes Beats Bharat

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Ethan Foulkes and Lall Bharat — seated next to one another at Table 2 — have been engaged in frequent battles over small-to-medium pots throughout the first level-and-a-half of play today. Just now they were at it again, with the pot building a bit larger than usual in this instance.

The hand started with a Bharat raise to 58,000 from under the gun, called by Foulkes in the big blind. The flop came {3-Clubs}{J-Spades}{5-Spades}, and Foulkes check-called a continuation bet by Bharat. The turn brought the {8-Hearts} and another check from Foulkes, and this time Bharat bet 80,000 and Foulkes called, building the pot to around 350,000.

The river brought the {8-Diamonds}, and this time Foulkes decided to lead with a bet of 225,000. Bharat thought about a half-minute and called, then Foulkes turned over {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} for an overpair of queens. Bharat tapped the felt and mucked his hand, complimenting Foulkes for having won that round between the two.

Truth or Dare

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

An interesting hand just played out between Chris Mintchev (cutoff) and Stephen Dare (button). After Dare called a standard opening raise from Mintchev before the flop, the pair made it to the turn with the board showing {A-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Dare having taken the initiative, with Mintchev check-calling a Dare turn bet.

By the time the {9-Diamonds} landed on fifth street, the pot exceeded 300,000 and Mintchev was checking again. This time Dare bet 140,000, and after checking to see what Dare had left behind, Mintchev let his hand go.

At that Dare showed his cards — {J-Spades}{10-Spades}. "Well, he didn't have anything," said Pete Campo with a kind of mock incredulity at the sight of Dare's hand.

I Feel the Need... the Need for Snead

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

We caught the action with 400,000 or so already in the pot and a board reading {7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{A-Hearts}. John McNabola bet 250,000 from the big blind and Paul Snead called from the button. McNabola then checked the {K-Diamonds} river, and Snead did the same after thinking for about 90 seconds.

Snead tabled the {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and it was good enough to win the large pot as McNabola simply folded. "You were coming no matter what I did," McNabola pointed out.

Alex Wilson Eliminated in 13th Place ($11,836)

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Alex Wilson - 13th Place
Alex Wilson - 13th Place

Pete Campo raised to 45,000 from middle position, then Bobby Corcione called behind. Lall Bharat also called from the small blind, then Alex Wilson reraised all in for just over 450,000 from the big blind.

Campo quickly let his hand go, then Corcione waited just a few seconds before saying he was calling Wilson's push. Bharat immediately folded, and the players tabled their cards.

Wilson: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Corcione: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The players not still in the hand reacted to Wilson's bad fortune, their statements continuing after the {2-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop gave Corcione a set. The turn was the {6-Diamonds}, making the river {8-Spades} inconsequential and reducing the field to 12.

That hand moves Corcione up over 1.8 million and into the chip lead at the moment.

Snead Takes Down Big Three-Way Pot

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Chris Schonbach opened for 50,000 under the gun and received a quick call from John McNabola to his immediate left. Action folded around to Paul Snead in the big blind and he announced a raise before making it 220,000 to go, leaving himself just 240,000 behind. Schonbach thought for a solid minute before calling, and then McNabola did the same.

The {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{K-Spades} flop elicited some "oohs" and "aahs" from the spectators, and then Snead moved all in. Both Schonbach and McNabola seemed frustrated and sent their cards to the muck.

Eric Rando Eliminated in 14th Place ($11,836)

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Eric Rando - 14th Place
Eric Rando - 14th Place

Following an opening minimum-raise to 40,000 by Ethan Foulkes from middle position, it folded back to Eric Rando who reraised all in from the small blind. The action was soon back on Foulkes, who after determining the size of the shove — about 365,000 — said he was calling.

Rando turned over {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} and needed to improve versus Foulkes's {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} to avoid elimination. But the board came {8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, then {6-Clubs}, then {Q-Diamonds}, and Rando's run has ended.

That hand pushes Foulkes into the top five of the counts currently with a stack of nearly one million.

Mike Massri Eliminated in 15th Place ($11,836)

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Mike Massri - 15th Place
Mike Massri - 15th Place

Mike Massri has been knocked out in 15th place just before the halfway mark of Level 26, his Main Event run coming to an end following two hands in which Pete Campo took the majority of his stack, then Bobby Corcione took the rest.

In the first hand, Campo opened for 45,000 from under the gun, then Massri reraised to 170,000 from a couple of seats over.

It folded back to Campo who shoved and Massri called, turning over {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. Campo meanwhile had {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}, and after the board came {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{J-Hearts}, Campo had doubled while Massri tumbled to just over 200,000.

Soon Massri was pushing all in with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and getting called by Corcione who had been dealt {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The community cards came {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, and Massri wished his opponents well as he made his way to the cashier's desk.
