A Free Flop for Altman

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Rainer Kempe was in the small blind and limped to Brian Altman. He checked his option to see a free flop, and it came down {2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Kempe checked and Altman bet 120,000. Altman called.

The turn card was the {10-Diamonds} and Kempe check-called another bet, this time of 450,000, going to a river card of {5-Hearts}. Kempe checked once more. Altman fired out 775,000 this time and Kempe folded, giving away the pot.

That hand put Altman above 10,000,000 in chips for the first time.

Small Pots

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Since these players got to four-handed play, there haven't been too many chips exchanging hands — mostly just small pots shuffling around the table. Here's an update on where the four players currently stand:

Carter Swidler Eliminated in Fifth Place for $108,410

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

The final Canadian at this Canadian WPT stop has been eliminated.

With action on Brian Altman on the button, he pushed all in to the small stacks in the blinds. Carter Swidler made the call and Jared Mahoney folded.

Altman: {10-Spades}{j-Spades}
Swidler: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Swidler was the favourite to find the double-up, and he liked the flop of {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, but the turn brought the {j-Clubs} to pair Altman. Swidler could hit an ace or any club to survive, but the river of {j-Diamonds} was neither.

Swidler was eliminated in fifth place for $108,410.

Mahoney's Double

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

The short-stacked Jared Mahoney got it all in preflop with {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} against Brian Altman's {a-Spades}{8-Hearts} to race for his tournament life.

The flop practically sealed the deal when it came {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. The {7-Clubs} turn improved him to a full house, and the river of {a-Diamonds} was meaningless.

Four-Bet Shove on the Flop

Level 30 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante

A massive hand between two of the middling stacks just saw players all in on the flop.

Rainer Kempe raised to 200,00 preflop and Jared Mahoney called. The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Mahoney checked.

Then the chips started going in. Kempe bet 180,000, Mahoney raised to 700,000, Kempe three-bet to 1,350,000, and Mahoney pushed all in. Kempe quickly called.

Mahoney: {7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Kempe: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Mahoney was in big trouble with his top pair as Kempe had the overpair. The turn came {a-Spades} and the river completed the board with {j-Spades}, giving Kempe the big double-up and leaving Mahoney with little.

At the end of the hand, Mahoney held 785,000 chips and Kempe climbed to 6,375,000.
