Mike Sexton is one of many players who believes live poker should have a basketball-type shot clock, and if it ever one was put in place Gianluca Mattia would certainly fall foul of it.
Bastien Lebel opened the betting with a raise, Mattia three-bet to 1,900 and then called (after 90 seconds) when Lebel four-bet to 5,600. The duo saw the flop come down and Lebel made a continuation bet of 5,500. Mattia tanked for close to two minutes before making the call.
The on the turn saw Lebel bet again, increasing his bet size to 7,500and once again Mattia tank-called. The river was another eight and Lebel bet 10,000 leaving himself just 20,000 behind. Mattia went deep into the tank for four minutes before Kyle Cheong called time on him. The tournament director got all the way down to 10 seconds, from 60, before Mattia mucked his hand.
Jeffrey Rossiter has just eliminated Jerome Brion and now finds himself at the top of the chip counts. There was a raise to 600 from first position, Rossiter called from the cutoff, Brion three-bet to 2,400, the original raiser folded and Rossiter four-bet to 5,325. Brion got the rest of his stack into the middle and Rossiter snap-called.
Rossiter turned over and was nicely in front of the of Brion. The board ran out and with that Brion busted and Rossiter flew up the chip counts
Although he just busted out, Marvin Rettenmaier has re-entered here in Malta. The rules state you can only re-enter on the following day but thanks to the casino allowing a player who had busted out to re-enter (by accident), Rettenmaier was allowed to do the same.
Now the rules have been bent for everyone and whoever busts out before the end of Level 6 will be able to re-enter today! Oops.
Kiyril Radzivonau has just cost the Revive Touch massage girl Lena Kaddoura some business by eliminating Jorryt van Hoof.
Radzivonau opened to 625 from under the gun and the action folded all the way round to van Hoof on the button. He called, as did Emma Suomalainen in the big blind.
The three players saw the dealer fan out the flop, a flop that was checked to van Hoof on the button. He paused for a couple of seconds before betting 1,300 and only Radzivonau called.
Radzivonau then lead out on a turn and van Hoof called again, tossing in a 5,000 chip to make it. The on the river was greeted with an all-in bet from Radzivonau, which was an effective bet of around 16,000 because that is all van Hoof had in his stack. As he was contemplating making a call, van Hoof saw the massage girl heading towards him and he said,
"I might be out, if not I would like a massage!"
But that massage will never happen as he made the call, then mucked, when his opponent showed him for the straight.
PartyPoker sponsored pro Marvin Rettenmaier has been eliminated but we will be seeing him again tomorrow as he has just informed us that he will be re-entering on Day 1b.
All of Rettenmaier's stack went into the middle on a , Rettenmaier holding and Cesare Florio holding a dominated . Florio may have been well behind but that all changed when the appeared on the turn. The river was no help to Rettenmaier and he was eliminated from WPT Malta.
Tony G is meant to be taking on Phil Hellmuth in a triathlon of events here in Malta this week. Earlier an email was leaked showing his demands for the upcoming battle.
