Pardo Gets Caught After Being Counterfeited

Level 21 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Christopher Nguyen opened to 400,000 in middle position and Juan Pardo defended from the big blind. The flop fell KJ9 and Pardo check-called a bet of 300,000 from Nguyen.

The turn was the K and Pardo checked again. Nguyen threw in a bet of 1,000,000 and Pardo stuck around to see the J on the river. With the board double-paired, Pardo led out with a bet of 525,000. Nguyen flicked in a call and Pardo tabled 109 for a counterfeited pair of nines — he was playing a ten-kicker with the two pair on the board. Nguyen showed AQ for a better kicker and claimed the pot.

Ermo Kosk raised to 450,000 in middle position and David Kaufmann reraised to 2,100,000 in the big blind, leaving himself around 200,000 behind. Kosk then moved all in and Kaufmann spent a few moments looking at the tournament clock before calling.

Ermo Kosk: 1010

Kaufmann was racing for his tournament life and saw the J fall in the window to give him a pair, followed by the J. But they were accompanied by the 10 as Kosk spiked a full house.

"I liked the window card, at least," Kaufmann said as the board ran out 23 to send him to the rail.

"Now I hope nobody busts in the next 30 seconds," Kaufmann said as he just missed a pay jump.

"I'm using all my time banks, that's for sure," tablemate Chris Moneymaker added.

"I haven't used one. I'm saving them for the next one," Matt Glantz said.

Chris Brewer

With around 3,000,000 in the pot, Chris Brewer and Dong Chen went to the turn on a board of 896K. Brewer then moved all in for 1,500,000 on the button and Chen snap-called in the small blind.

Brewer showed 98 for two pair, while Chen had AK. The river was the A and Chen improved to a better two pair to send Brewer to the rail.

"I was really hoping you had ace-king there," Brewer said on his way to collect his payout.

"Nice hand. The hand played itself," tablemate Nick Maimone said to Chen.

"Lucky," Chen replied.

"Terrible River" for Lin

Level 21 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Ren Lin raised to 400,000 from under the gun and was called by Matthew Wantman in the hijack. They went heads-up to a flop of J102 and Lin continued with a bet of 400,000 which Wantman called.

The turn brought the 9 and Lin dropped in a bet of 1,000,000. Wantman still called and the Q river put four cards to a straight on the board. Lin still threw in a bet of 1,000,000 and Wantman released his cards.

"Terrible river," Lin complained. "Terrible."

Gleb Tremzin

Yang Wang opened 450,000 in the hijack before Gleb Tremzin jammed all in from the big blind. Wang asked for a count, and as the dealer was counting the chips, Tremzin reached into his bag to pull out his camera. After hearing it was 4,025,000, Wang made the call.
