Fedor Holz

A week into World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise and the first-ever Event #9: $25,000 WSOP Super Main Event has completed two or four Day 1 flights. The $50 million guaranteed Super Main Event has drawn 715 runners through two flights as the players look for a piece of the biggest guarantee in poker history, with just 244 finding a bag for Day 2 so far, just over one-third of the field.

Today, players will have another opportunity as Day 1c kicks off at 12 p.m. local time from Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas.

Leading the way so far is Germany's Fedor Holz who bagged an impressive 4,880,000. He built a big stack early in the day and never looked back on his way to the overall chip lead. Sitting in second place is Day 1a chip leader Juan Pardo who finished with 4,585,000.

Day 1C Chip Leader

Kim Snaps Off Newman

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

On the first hand of the day, action folded to Dylan Linde who limped in from the small blind. Jonathan Newman then raised to 8,000 in the big blind and Linde folded.

"Chip leader," Newman said.

"Cash out," a tablemate told him.

The next hand, Deer Kim raised to 6,000 in the cutoff, Newman three-bet to 28,000 in the small blind, and Kim called.

The flop came J94 and Newman bet 18,000. Kim called and the 10 fell on the turn. Newman slowed down and checked, and Kim bet 23,000.

Newman called to the A river, where he led out with 130,000. Kim snap-called and Newman showed K10 for a pair of tens. Kim turned over JJ for a set to take down the first big pot of the day.

Duthie Blasts the River

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Artyom Smatyan opened 4,000 in the hijack and John Duthie called on the button.

The dealer fanned a flop of A74, and Smatyan continued for 6,000. Duthie made the call.

When the K hit the turn, Smatyan stayed aggressive as 16,000 crossed the line. Duthie stuck around with a call.

The board completed with the 7 on the river and Smatyan slowed down with a check. Duthie took about 30 seconds, while putting his glasses on and rechecking his cards. Eventually, he fired a bet of 100,000 into the middle and Smatyan snap-mucked.

Rizzo Trips Up Hum

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Geoffrey Hum opened to 5,000 from under the gun and Leonardo Rizzo called in the big blind.

On the AA3 flop, Hum continued for 5,000 before Rizzo check-raised to 15,000 and Hum put in the call.

The turn brought to 4. Rizzo fired again for 20,000 and Hum quickly called.

The 9 river quickly checked through as Rizzo tabled A6 for trip aces which were good enough to drag an early pot.
