Moneymaker Walks Into Nasreddine Trap

Level 15 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Rania Nasreddine
Rania Nasreddine

Chris Moneymaker raised to 105,000 from under the gun, and Rania Nasreddine made the call in early position. It then folded to Jean-Noel Thorel who three-bet to 300,000 in the hijack with 98. Moneymaker made the call, and Nasreddine four-bet all in for 945,000. Thorel folded, and Moneymaker made the call to put Nasreddine at risk.

Rania Nasreddine: KK All in
Chris Moneymaker: AQ

Nasreddine set the trap perfectly, and put herself in a great spot to more than double up. Once the board ran out 52Q109 she did just that, as her pocket kings were still best, taking the pot and getting more than a double up.

More Chips for Hissou

Level 15 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

The action folded around to Matthias Eibinger and Sirzat Hissou in the blinds who each stuck in 350,000 a piece preflop. The dealer fanned the flop of AA8 and both players checked to the 7 on the turn.

Eibinger checked again and Hissou tossed in a bet of 285,000 which Eibinger called. The river was the 10 and Eibinger checked for the third time. Hissou announced a bet of 610,000 and Eibinger instantly called. Hissou turned over AQ and Eibinger was unable to beat it.

Rizzo Holds to Double Up

Level 16 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Action folded to Leonardo Rizzo in the hijack, and he raised to 405,000, leaving just 125,000 chips behind. Then Anatoly Zlotnikov in the cutoff three-bet all in for his stack of 1,120,000. It folded back to Rizzo who made the call to put himself at risk.

Leonardo Rizzo: 88 All in
Anatoly Zlotnikov: AQ

Rizzo was ahead with his pocket eights, and when the board ran out 531049 the pocket eights of Rizzo were still best, securing him a double up.

Flashback: Online Qualifier Stanislav Zegal Wins First WSOP Paradise Main Event

Level 16 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Stanislav Zegal
Stanislav Zegal

Last year, the first-ever World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise Main Event champion was crowned as Germany's Stanislav Zegal took down the $5,000 buy-in event for $2 million and his first WSOP bracelet. The GGPoker qualifier defeated heads-up opponent Michael Sklenicka of Czechia to wrap up a final day that only lasted four hours.

The inaugural WSOP Paradise Main Event at the five-star Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas drew 3,010 players for a prize pool that climbed above the $15 million guarantee. The field included dozens of online qualifiers, including Zegal, who was able to parlay his online poker prowess into a life-altering seven-figure victory.

“I was so lucky, the cards just fell my way all the time," Zegal told PokerNews. "I think I played well too, but obviously (there’s) tons of luck... This is what you call life-changing money, I guess.”

How Close Did WSOP Super Main Event Come to Reaching the $50M Guarantee?

Level 16 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
WSOP Paradise
WSOP Paradise

Just 24 hours ago, players were predicting that the $50 million guarantee World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise Super Millions Main Event could overlay by eight figures. As it turned out, the largest-ever guaranteed tournament overlayed by $550,000 thanks to a slew of late entrants on Day 2.

The $25,000 buy-in event attracted a total of 1,378 entrants across four starting flights and Day 2 entries. Adding that with 600 online players, there were a total of 1,978 entrants for the Super Main Event. They needed 2,000 players to hit the guarantee and fell short by 22 players.

They will pay out 297 total, 207 in-person and 90 online. A minimum cash will be worth $50,000 and first place will be $6 million.

During Day 1d on Dec. 15, 2006 WSOP Main Event champion Jamie Gold predicted a $10 million overlay.

If that had come to fruition, it would've quadrupled the previous record set in 2014 when the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open fell short of its $10 million guarantee by $2.5 million. The $40 million guaranteed WPT World Championship in 2023 came close to that with a $2.4 million overlay.

Things weren't as dire as predicted in The Bahamas and now the focus is on playing down to the final 15% of the field and into the money.
