Welcome to Day 1b of the World Series of Poker Paradise Super Main Event

A week into World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise and the first-ever Event #9: $25,000 WSOP Super Main Event is finally upon us. The $50 million guaranteed Super Main Event kicked off yesterday as Day 1a drew 461 runners looking for a piece of the biggest guarantee in poker history, with just 155 finding a bag for Day 2.

Today, players will have another opportunity as Day 1b kicks off at 12 p.m. local time from Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas.

Spain's Juan Pardo bagged the chip lead from a stacked field in the first starting flight with 4,585,000 ahead of big stacks including Jonathan Jaffee, Team Lucky's Shaun Deeb and one of the newest high-stakes crushers in Kayhan Mokri.

Today features the second of four Day 1 starting flights, while Flight C and D will follow on December 14 and 15. Each player will start with 500,000 chips and the blinds will begin at 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 big blind ante. Play is scheduled for ten 60-minute levels with a 15-minute break after Level 2, 4, and 8, and a 60-minute dinner break after level 6. The field will combine for Day 2 on December 16 at 12 p.m.

Two reentries will be permitted for each Day 1 starting flight, with late registration and reentries being open for the first 12 levels of play.

Suvarna Puts in a Big River Raise

Two players saw the 864 flop, creating a pot of 22,000. Stanislav Zegal was under the gun and check-called a bet of 10,000 from Santhosh Suvarna who was in middle position.

The 7 turn was checked through to see the 8 on the river, where Zegal fired out out a bet of 13,000 in blue chips. Suvarna put out a raise to 63,000, and it only took a couple of seconds for Zegal to surrender the pot.

Kornuth Doubles Through His Business Partner

In a three-way pot on a flop of K62, Chance Kornuth bet in early position and Sosia Jiang called in the cutoff as Alex Foxen called in the big blind.

Foxen checked on the 9 turn and Kornuth bet 68,000. Jiang folded and Foxen called. Foxen checked once more on the 10 river and Kornuth put him to the test by moving all in for around 350,000.

The recent Triton Main Event champion went deep in the tank before calling, leading his Chip Leader Coaching partner to show K9 for two pair as Foxen was forced to reveal KJ.

There were more than 100 entries in the opening levels of the $25,000 WSOP Super Main Event on Day 1b. Here is a look at the highlights from the first two levels as the players head on their first 15-minute break of the day.

NBA Legend Flops a Full House to Crack Aces

On the streamed feature table, Sam Greenwood opened in middle position with AA and NBA legend Tony Parker called in the big blind with Q6.

The flop landed QQ6 to smash the former San Antonio Spurs point guard with queens full of sixes Parker checked and Greenwood continued for 5,000 with his aces. Parker slow-played and called.

Parker checked on the 5 turn and Greewood saw no reason not to bet his aces and threw out 20,000. Parker again called.

Parker checked once more on the J river and Greenwood bet 31,000. Parker check-raised to 100,000. Greenwood realized he was beat and laid it down.

Huni Makes the Right Call

Chris Hunichen made a big call in the final hand before first break. In a heads-up pot on a flop of 353 Dimitar Danchev checked and Hunichen bet 20,000. Danchev called.

Danchev checked again on the 10 turn and Hunichen sized up to 57,000. Danchev again called.

Danchev checked once more on the Q river and Hunichen bet 150,000. Danchev check-raised all in for around 410,000 and Hunichen entered a deep tank that extended into the 15-minute break. Eventually, Hunichen called.

Danchev showed 54 for a pair of fives as Hunichen revealed KK to win the pot with a pair of kings.

Wasserson's Kings Hold Against Suvarna

Eric Wasserson opened 9,000 under the gun, the hijack and small blind called before Santhosh Suvarna put in a three-bet to 45,000 from the big blind. Wasserson put in four-bet to 110,000, forcing both the hijack and small blind to fold while Suvarna made the call.

The dealer fanned a flop of JJ10, and Suvarna check-raised a bet of 65,000 to 165,000. Wasserson quickly splashed his 375,000 across the line and Suvarna called.

Justin Bonomo raised it up on the button and Lei Yu called from the big. The flop came AK4 and Yu check-called a bet of 25,000 from Bonomo.

With around 80,000 in the middle, the 5 landed on the turn. Yu checked again and Bonomo sized up a bet of 100,000. Yu still called and the 7 completed the board. Yu checked for the final time and Bonomo gathered his remaining stack of 324,000 and moved it into the middle. Yu went into the tank for a couple of minutes but decided to fold.

Lococo Flops the Joint

Jianwei Lin opened to 13,000 from under the gun and was called by Alejandro Lococo in the small blind. Joni Jouhkimainen reraised to 56,000 from the big blind and both Lin and Lococo called.

The flop fell Q82 and the action checked to Lin who bet 42,000. Lococo called and Jouhkimainen tagged along as well. The 4 landed on the turn and Lin fired out another bet of 180,000. Lococo shipped all in for 418,000 which got Jouhkimainen to fold but Lin quickly called.

Lococo turned over A6 for a flush while Lin held 88 for a set of eights. The 6 on the river did not pair the board and Lococo held on for a big double up.

Zhou checked once more on the 3 river and Foxen moved all in for 240,000. Zhou called, only to muck as the recent Women in Poker Hall of Fame inductee showed 99 for a set of nines.
