Lawson Having No Trouble at a Tough Table

Level 5 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Despite sitting at a table of death that includes all-stars Nick Petrangelo, Aleksejs Ponakovs, Orpen Kisacikoglu and Eliot Hudon, Florida's Michele Lawson has had no trouble building up a stack as she searches for a second bracelet.

Just last month, Lawson took down a WSOP US Domestic online Mystery Bounty event for $41,567 and her first bracelet. Her husband, Ted Lawson, is also a bracelet winner, making them one of the very few poker couples with bracelets.

Lawson has a stack of 1,100,000 in the Super Main Event and her husband told PokerNews she has been "crushing" the table.

Ho Doesn't Have to Show

Three players created a pot of about 65,000 and the 1052 flop was on the felt. Brandon Wilson checked from the big blind before Maria Ho fired a bet of 23,000. The button quickly got out of the way and Wilson made the call.

When the 8 hit the turn, Wilson check-called another bet of 60,000.

The 9 completed the board on the river and once Wilson checked, Ho checked back. Wilson dropped his cards face down toward the dealer, and Ho did the same as the dealer pushed her the pot.

Betil Bets the Turn

Level 5 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Jason Koon opened to 18,000 in middle position, with Aram Sargsyan calling in the small blind and Bariscan Betil doing the same in the big blind.

The 9A5 flop saw all three players check, with the dealer revealing the K turn.

Sargsyan checked again before Betil slid out a bet of 45,000. Koon did not take long to let his hand go, while Sargsyan quickly followed with a fold to see Betil claim the pot.

Negreanu Takes a Bite and Folds

Level 5 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Werner Lootsma found himself heads up with a rice-cake-eating Daniel Negreanu on a board of K994. Negreanu checked from the big blind and Lootsma tossed in a bet of 55,000 which Negreanu called.

The river was the 3 and Negreanu quickly checked again. Lootsma announced a bet of 160,000 and Negreanu packed up his food before thinking out loud.

"I guess you could have fours," Negreanu rhetorically asked. He shook his head and dumped his cards to the muck, sending the pot to Lootsma.

In a heads-up pot on a flop of 84K, Aleksejs Ponakovs checked in early position and Michele Lawson bet from middle position. Ponakovs check-raised to ~300,000 and Lawson called.

Ponakovs bet 140,000 on the 2 turn and snap-called when Lawson raised all in.

Aleksejs Ponakovs: KK All in
Michele Lawson: AQ

The aggressive-playing Ponakovs had it this time with a set of kings and the meaningless 10 bricked off on the river to earn the Latvian high-stakes pro a double.

Gottwik Rivers Two Pair to Get the Double

Level 5 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The turn of K748 was already on the felt and Michael Gottwik led for 55,000 into the pot of about 120,000 from the small blind. Felipe Boianovsky was on the button and made the call.

When the 6 completed the board on the river, Gottwik moved all in for his last 115,000. Boianovsky quickly called while tabling 76 for two pair, sevens and sixes. However, it was no good as Gottwik tabled K6, making kings and sixes to score the double.
