Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jessica Teusl
Jessica Teusl

Action was three-way to the 9AK flop, where Jessica Teusl led out from middle position for 7,000. Noah Curhan made the call in the hijack, as did Darryl Clarke on the button.

Teusl fired again on the 5 turn, this time for 10,000. Curhan called while Clarke got out of the way.

The 10 river saw Teusl slow down with a check before Curhan slid out a 100,000 chip. Teusl snap-called and showed A10 for two pair.

Curhan tabled A9 for an inferior two pair, as Teusl took down a sizeable pot early in the day.

WSOP Issues Major Rule Change to Electronic Device Use For Paradise Series

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jonathan Tamayo
Jonathan Tamayo

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise series is underway, and poker players attending should be aware of a rule change that will impact the use of electronic devices at the table.

Jonathan Tamayo won the WSOP Main Event for $10 million this past summer in Las Vegas. Controversy surrounded the victory after poker fans noticed his rail, which included poker pros Joe McKeehen and Dominik Nitsche, had a laptop open with apparent real-time assistance (RTA) software visible.

Tamayo would occasionally converse with his rail during the final table, and that led some to question if he had an unfair advantage. But no one has presented any evidence to prove he broke any rules or won the tournament because of an edge gained from his rail. Still, the WSOP did not have a rule in place to prevent potential controversies such as this from arising. They do now, however.

There are a few other additional new rules for the series, including banning electronic devices at the table altogether when a tournament is down to three tables. Players are also not permitted to place their cell phones or any electronic devices on the table or table rail during play.

Nagaki Shows Down Kings

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

There was a raise to 5,000 in middle position and Narcis-Gabriel Nedelcu three-bet to 18,000 on the button. Cristian Nagaki four-bet to 58,000 from the small blind which got the original raiser to fold. Nedelcu responded with a five-bet to 118,000 and Nagaki just called.

The flop came Q63 and Nagaki check-called a bet of 35,000 from Nedelcu. The 5 hit the turn and both players checked to the 9 on the river. Nagaki led out with a small bet of 32,000 and Nedelcu looked him up. Nagaki turned over KK for the best hand as Nedelcu flashed the Q before his cards hit the muck.

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Four players put 5,000 in the middle to see the J92 flop, where the action checked to Maksim Paniak as he fired 12,000. Only Itsach Barak made the call on the button.

The K hit the turn and Paniak continued for 26,000. Barak wasted no time making the call.

The dealer rolled the 6 on the river and both players tapped the table. Paniak tabled QJ for a pair of jacks, but was shown the bad news as Barak dragged the pot with K10.

Anatoly Filatov opened to 5,000 in early position and was called by the hijack. Roger Tondeur three-bet to 35,000 on the button and Sergio Aido four-bet to 100,000 from the small blind. The action folded back to Tondeur who quickly made the call.

The dealer fanned the flop of K53 and Aido continued with a bet of 55,000. Tondeur raised to 155,000 and Aido shipped all in for 330,000. Tondeur called and the cards were on their backs.

Sergio Aido: AAAll in
Roger Tondeur: AK

Tondeur flopped a pair of kings but it was no match for the pair of aces from Aido. The 2 and 9 runout changed nothing and Aido doubled up, leaving Tondeur with crumbs.

Level 2 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Alisson Piekazewicz in middle position and Juan Baraza in the big blind were seen putting 50,000 each into the pot while Roger Tondeur was all-in for his last 28,000 in the cutoff.

The dealer spread the flop of J92, and Baraza continued for 40,000. Piekazewicz called.

The A fell on the turn and Baraza fired 45,000 across the line. Piekazewicz stuck around once again.

When the 8 completed the board on the river, Baraza shot 110,000 into the middle and Piekazewicz matched his bet.

Baraza rolled over 99 for a flopped set while Piekazewicz tabled AK, and Tondeur showed KQ as he headed to the exit.
