Hands #73-77: Higgs Gets Aggressive

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Hand #73: Mike Watson raised to 18,000 and Sam Higgs called to see the flop of {A-Spades} {10-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}. Higgs check-called a bet of 18,000 and they then checked the {7-Hearts} on the turn. Higgs fired 50,000 on the {9-Diamonds} river and "SirWatts" immediately released his cards.

Hand #74: Higgs limped from the small blind, Watson checked the big blind and check-folded to a bet of 10,000 on the {8-Spades} {10-Hearts} {J-Clubs} flop.

Hand #75: Watson raised to 18,000 and claimed the pot.

Hand #76: Higgs limped, Watson raised to 18,000 and Higgs called. On the {2-Hearts} {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} flop, Watson followed up with a bet of 18,000 and folded when Higgs raised it up to 63,000 and "SirWatts" mucked his cards.

Hand #77: Watson once again made it 18,000 to go and they checked the {K-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {10-Hearts} flop. On the {2-Spades} turn, Higgs bet 21,000 and Watson made the call to see the {K-Clubs} on the river. Higgs bet 60,000 and Watson stared at the board before releasing his cards.

Hands #67-72: Evening Things Up

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Hand #67: Mike Watson raised to 18,000 and Sam Higgs called. Higgs then check-called a bet of 18,000 on the {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop before both players checked the {10-Clubs} turn as well as the {2-Clubs} river. Watson showed the {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a flopped set, but it was no good as Higgs tabled the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a bigger flopped set.

Hand #68: Higgs raised to 17,000 from the button, Watson called, and the flop came down {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Watson check-folded to a bet of 17,000.

Hand #69: Watson raised the button to 18,000, Higgs called, and the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. Higgs check-called a bet of 18,000 and then both players checked the {4-Hearts} turn. Higgs fired out 60,000 on the {8-Hearts} river and Watson wasted little time in folding his hand.

Hand #70: Higgs raised to 18,000, Watson called, and then both players checked it down as the board ran out {2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Higgs showed the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} and it was good.

Hand #71: Watson raised to 18,000 and Higgs folded.

Hand #72: Higgs raised to 15,000 from the button, Watson called, and both players checked the {5-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop. Watson then bet 20,000 on the {4-Spades} turn, Higgs called, and the {5-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Watson checked and then folded when Higgs bet 55,000.

Hands #58-60: Watson Takes Over the Chip Lead

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Hand #58: Sam Higgs limped and then called a raise from Mike Watson, which brought about a flop of {5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Watson bet 25,000, Higgs called, and the {8-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. Watson bet again, this time 75,000, and Higgs snap-called. When the {Q-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Watson bet the size of the pot (236,000) and Higgs thought long and hard before releasing his hand.

Hand #59: Watson raised to 18,000 from the button, Higgs called, and the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}. Higgs checked and then folded to a bet of 18,000.

Hand #60: Higgs raised to 16,000 from the button, Watson called, and then both players checked the {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop. Watson checked for a second time on the {A-Diamonds} turn and Higgs bet 21,000. Watson woke up with a check-raise to 65,000, Higgs called, and the {Q-Spades} completed the board on the river. Watson fired out 135,000 and Higgs thought for about a minute before making the call. Watson rolled over the {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} for a set, and it was good as Higgs folded. With that Watson took over the chip lead.

Jonathan Duhamel Eliminated in 3rd Place (AU$ 52,068)

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Jonathan Duhamel - 3rd Place
Jonathan Duhamel - 3rd Place

Hand #53: Mike Watson got a walk in the big blind.

Hand #54: After a preflop raising war, Jonathan Duhamel got his last 45,000 chips in preflop and was called by initial raiser Sam Higgs.

Higgs: {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {6-Hearts}
Duhamel: {7-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {2-Spades}

The former World Series Of Poker Main Event champion was looking for low cards in order to avoid elimination but the {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} {Q-Hearts} flop was pretty much the exact opposite. Duhamel was drawing dead after the {10-Hearts} turn and the meaningless {6-Diamonds} river completed the board.
