Colman Busts Cates; Doubles Kenney

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Dan Cates
Dan Cates

Dan Colman opened the action with a raise and called the three-bet shove of short stack Dan Cates from one seat over for less than 20 big blinds. It was a classic flip, as Cates had {A-}{K-} and Colman the {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The flop of {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} was bad news for Cates, and he was eliminated once the {5-Spades} turn and {3-Diamonds} river completed the board.

Cates and Bryn Kenney had a few more words, picking up on their previous table talk, and the next hand then got underway. Colman opened to 3,600 from the cutoff and Kenney moved all in for 38,000 from the small blind, Colman called.

Bryn Kenney: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Dan Colman: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The board came {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Kenney rivered a set to stay in and swap stacks with Colman.

Kenney and Cates Tangle in Table Talk

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

After John Juanda had walked over to talk with Dan Cates soon after being eliminated, Bryn Kenney and Dario Sammartino started talking about buying action in poker tournaments and Dan Cates chimed in. What followed was a serious table talk between Kenney and Cates, the arguments flying left and right.

Next up, Sammartino opened from the hijack and Kenney three-bet the cutoff to 11,000. Sammartino moved all in and Kenney folded after some consideration.

The very next hand, Koray Aldemir raised from the cutoff to 3,600 and Cates defended the big blind. Sammartino and Kenney were not in the hand, and started some friendly table talk again, ended up laughing and shaking off the previous encounter. In the meanwhile, the flop fell {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and Cates checked, Aldemir checked behind.

Cates then bet the {9-Hearts} turn for 8,000 and Aldemir called before the {K-Hearts} river went check, check. Cates showed {K-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Aldemir raked in the pot with {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, leaving Cates short in chips.

Juanda Second Casualty of the Day

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

After a button raise by David Peters, John Juanda got his short stack of around 33,000 in from the small blind. Paul Phua folded in the big blind and Peters quickly called to put Juanda at risk of elimination.

John Juanda: {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
David Peters: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

The board came up blank for Juanda, running out {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{A-Spades}, and Peters even made a set of aces to eliminate Juanda. "Good luck guys," Juanda said with a smile on the face.

Yong Takes from Seidel; Sammartino from Torbergsen

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

While Wai Kin Yong has not shown up yet, his father and Founder of Triton Richard Yong just took a decent chunk off Erik Seidel. In a battle button versus small blind, the duo headed to the river of a {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Yong bet 20,000. Seidel called and quickly mucked when Yong rolled over {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} for aces and jacks.

Dario Sammartino opened to 4,000 from early position and Marius Torbergsen three-bet to 11,700 on the button. Sammartino asked to see the stack of his opponent and called. The duo checked the {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop and the {7-Diamonds} turn. Sammartino then bet the {10-Hearts} river for 11,400 and Torbergsen folded.

Cheong Busts to Seidel

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Cheok Leng Cheong
Cheok Leng Cheong

In one of the first hands of the day, a battle of the blinds saw the departure of Cheok Leng Cheong. Out of the small blind, he raised to 4,800 and Erik Seidel in the big blind three-bet to 14,500, Cheong called. On the flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Cheong check-called a bet worth 12,000 before checking again the {A-Hearts} turn.

Seidel now bet 28,000 and Cheong check-raised all in. Seidel called instantly and the cards were tabled.

Cheok Leng Cheong: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Erik Seidel: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Cheong was already drawing dead, making the {7-Clubs} river a formality.

Who Will Win the 2017 Triton Super High Roller Series Manila 6-Max Event?

Triton Super High Roller Series 2017 Tournament Room
Triton Super High Roller Series 2017 Tournament Room

After nine levels of 45 minutes each, the 2017 Triton Super High Roller Series Manila 6-Max Event saw 24 players bag up chips and advance to day two of the HK$ 250,000 (approximately $32,200) buy-in at the stunning Solaire Resort and Casino. There were 35 unique entries and six re-entries to create a 41-entry strong field, but that number may still change with the registration being open until the start of Day 2 in one hour from now at 1 p.m. local time.

All players that busted on their first bullet yesterday are allowed to re-enter again, while four players already did so on Day 1 and failed to make Day 2. Among those was Phil Ivey, and the poker superstar is expected to be back in action for Day 1 of the HK$ 1,000,000 Main Event as of Sunday, Feb 19. Bryn Kenney and Mustapha Kanit were eliminated late on Day 1 and are among the candidates to take another shot at the juicy prize pool.

Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov went on a hot run and claimed a massive lead going into Day 2 with 342,200, more than two times the stack of second-placed Sergio Aido (139,100) and third-placed Mikita Badziakouski (134,800) combined. Other notables and big stacks in a field of high-stakes experts are Dario Sammartino (129,200), Rainer Kempe (116,500), David Peters (83,400) and Pratyush Buddiga (77,800).

Erik Seidel (76,500), Founder of Triton Richard Yong (74,000), Dan Colman (56,600) and Dan Cates (52,100) also made it through, while defending Triton Super High Roller Main Event champion Wai Kin Yong (32,500), President of Poker King Club Winfred Yu (29,700) and Paul Phua (26,800) are among the short stacks coming back.

The action will recommence with level 10 and blinds of 800-1,600 with a running ante of 200. All new entries will receive 50,000 in chips and the tournament is scheduled to play down to a winner today. The prize pool information will be released as soon as the registration closes. As usual, the PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor to provide all the action.
