Peppe Doubles First Hand Back

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante
Vic Peppe
Vic Peppe

Vic Peppe was just seen with a stack that was double what he had before going to break and confirmed that he got a full double from Randy Froelich on the first hand after break.

"Set over set," said Peppe. "He had fives, I had sevens."

Froelich hit a set of fives on the flop and proceeded to put Peppe all in on the turn {7-}, where Peppe quickly called after hitting a bigger set and faded the case five on the river to double.

Day 1 Chip Leader Sisler Falls

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Scott Sisler
Scott Sisler

All of the chips got into the middle preflop with Scott Sisler at risk for his last 400,000 in the small blind. The under-the-gun Scott Vesilek gave him action.

Scott Sisler: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Scott Vesilek: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Sisler found a possibility for a chop on the turn of a runout {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, but ultimately was left dry to result in his elimination. Meanwhile, Vesilek now has a stack of 1.11 million.

Also eliminated before Sisler was Derek Gregory, and Jeremy Pekarek hit the rail shortly after Sisler busted. The trio of eliminations brings the field down to 41, just one away from reaching five tables.

Kusnerak Doubles Through Pengelly In Fortunate Fashion

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Daniel Kusnerak
Daniel Kusnerak

Daniel Kusnerak was in the small blind called an open before Will Pengelly three-bet shoved for over 800,000. The original opener folded and then Kusnerak called all in for 639,000.

Daniel Kusnerak: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Will Pengelly: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The flop {6-Clubs}{k-Spades}{4-Spades} looked as if it were going to give Pengelly a seven-figure stack en route to knocking out Kusnerak, but the turn {10-Diamonds} changed everything as Kusnerak found himself picking up a set of tens. The river {4-Diamonds} further improved him to a full house and the double was sent his way.

Matsuzuki Doubles Through Grech; Six Tables Remain

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

All of the chips got into the middle between Don Matsuzuki in the cutoff and Zachary Grech, who was on the button, and the dealer was putting three cards onto the felt in preparation to spread the flop.

Don Matsuzuki: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Zachary Grech: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The runout came {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} to give Matsuzuki aces up and earn him the double. His stack was counted to 345,000, and the two players more or less traded stacks as a result.

Moments earlier, Bob Shao and Gary Hansen were recently eliminated from the tournament, bringing the field down to 48 players across six full tables. Updated chip counts from a chunk of the room have been provided below.
