Back and Forth Heads Up

John Hayes and Marius Toderici are entrenched and looking like they are going to be here awhile. Neither player wants to make a mistake that would cost them $44,000. That's the difference between first and second place. The MSPT doesn't allow chops, so the players will play for the title and the extra cash.

PokerNews Podcast Episode #344: Pennsylvania Moves One Big Step Closer To Online Poker

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Rich Ryan and Donnie Peters discussed the big winners from the 2015 WSOP Main Event on last week's podcast, but neglected to mention the biggest winner, the U.S. Government. They break down some of the massive tax payments the IRS will receive from the November Niners, and discuss the online gaming bill moving swiftly through the Pennsylvania State Legislature.

Hayes Gets 'Em Right Back

Level 30 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

On a board reading {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Marius Toderici bet 250,000 and John Hayes called. The river was the {4-Diamonds} and Toderici bet 550,000. Hayes shoved over the top and put himself at risk. Toderici was convinced he was beaten.

"I have a queen," said Toderici. He was clearly dismayed, but felt he didn't have the best hand and folded {k-}{q-} face up.

A Double for Toderici

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

The board read {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} and John Hayes and Marius Toderici got in all the chips.

Toderici was at risk with {j-Spades}{8-Hearts}, for a pair and a flush draw. Hayes had {10-Spades}{9-Clubs} for an open-ended straight draw and a lesser flush draw.

The flush got their on the turn with the {4-Spades} and the {j-Clubs} on the river was meaningless. Toderici is now back in the lead.

John Kurfman Eliminated in 3rd Place ($34,178)

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
John Kurfman
John Kurfman

John Hayes continues to dominate play ever since he took the chip lead. John Kurfman shoved once and it got through, but shortly after Hayes pushed back and made up the difference. On this hand, Kurfman would raise to 250,000 on the button, instead of shoving like he did last time.

Hayes reraised to 760,000 and Kurfman went all in shortly after. Hayes called and showed {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Kurfman had {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and had previous success with ace ten suited. This time he didn't fare so well. The board ran out {5-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Kurfman was eliminated in third place.

Hayes Leaning on Toderici and Kurfman

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

John Hayes just won a huge pot off Marius Toderici to take the chip lead. Now Hayes is just extending his chip lead, by leaning on both players.

  • A few hands after Toderici folded the flop to Hayes for an almost 2-million chip pot, Toderici and were at it again. Toderici raised from the small blind, this time making it 300,000 instead of 240,000. Hayes reraised to 700,000 and Toderici folded.
  • On the next hand, it was Kurfman's turn. Hayes opened with a raise of 240,000 and Kurfman made it 640,000. Hayes shoved all in and Kurfman folded.
