Sugen Singh and Jehan Richards Among the Big Stacks on Day 1a
On the opening day of The Hendon Mob Championship Cape Town Million, a total of 83 entries paid the entry fee of ZAR 8,000 ($440) and put the tournament on track to breeze past the ZAR 1 Million ($55,079) guarantee. Since all Day 1 flights play to the money with only one out of eight entries making it through, only the top 11 finishers bagged up chips for the night.
Three players increased their starting stack of 30,000 in chips more than ten-fold with Muaaz Gani taking the top spot thanks to 425,000 in chips, followed by Sean Botes (401,000) and Sugen Singh (332,000). Among the other notables to make it through are Jehan Richards (291,000), Cliton Taliwanth (246,000), Muzamil Gothey (128,000), and Maureen Bloechlinger (71,000).
Singh won the February edition of the SunBet Poker Tour Time Square Main Event in Pretoria after a three-way deal and aims to win another major title in South Africa. Poker globetrotter and flag hunter Bloechlinger secured her brand new South African flag with a victory in the Ladies Event and advanced to the money stages in this event as well. However, she might enter one of the remaining two flights again to try and run up a larger stack.
