At noon local time, the 71 survivors out of a field of 418 entries return to their seats in the Time Square Casino in Pretoria to battle for a portion of the ZAR5,266,800 ($281,989) prize pool. That's how much is up for grabs in the 2024 SunBet Poker Tour Time Square Main Event, which features a buy-in of ZAR15,000 (~$790) buy-in.
Four starting flights have concluded in the past three days and the marquee tournament of South Africa's newest up and coming live poker series surpassed the ZAR5,000,000 guarantee. The biggest field emerged last night on Day 1c with 155 entries, and Benjamin "Guppie" Lingenfelder emerged as the new chip leader with 614,000 in chips. He is closely followed by Elai Mazor with 592,000 but they are the only two players with more than half a million in chips at their disposal.
Other notables in the overall top ten include Anand Kumar (420,000) and Roy Bitton (406,000) whereas Menesh Keshav (338,000) and Kinesh Pather (248,000) also have above-average stacks available as well.

Nic Ioannoy (236,000) and Shannon Elizabeth (114,000) advanced from Day 1a and tried their luck again on Day 1c to advance with a bigger stack but busted, thus taking over their initial stacks into Day 2.
The action kicks off at noon local time with 48 minutes left in level 13 at blinds of 2,000-4,000 and a big blind ante of 4,000, rolled back to when the fastest flight finished. With 71 players remaining and 53 spots paid, the opening stages will be dominated by the bubble period.
As of Day 2, the level duration increases to 60 minutes each and will remain that way until a winner has been crowned on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Besides the PokerNews live updates from the outer tables, there will also be live stream available on the Monster Jam Poker Tour YouTube and Twitch channels on a security delay of 30 minutes all the way to the final hand.
