A shiny PokerStars WCOOP 2021 trophy and six-figure top prize is up for grabs on the final table of Event WCOOP-42-H: $5,200 NLHE [8-Max]. The tournament came up just shy of meeting the $700,000 guarantee and attracted a field of 136 entries, of which nine players remain.

The UK's Elliott "elliottpet" Peterman will return as the chip leader with a stack of more than 8.7 million and he is followed by Dutchman Tom "Daenarys T" Vogelsang and Russia's "CrazyLissy", who can regularly be found involved in the high-stakes competitions on PokerStars. "CrazyLissy" is one of several former WCOOP champions left in contention as they took down WCOOP-61-H: $2,100 NLHE event in 2019 for $115,509.

Other former WCOOP winners in the mix include Andras "probirs" Nemeth, Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood, and Anatoly "NL_Profit" Filatov. Mixed game specialist and EPT Main Event champion Dzmitry "Colisea" Urbanovich, Daniel "SmilleThHero" Smiljkovic and Jargo "bungakat" Alavali complete the final table line-up.

The first couple of hands after the break brought no major action until Elliott "elliottpet" Peterman min-raised and Andras "probirs" Nemeth called in the big blind. Following a {k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, Nemeth check-called for 169,750 and the {7-Clubs} turn was checked.

Nemeth bet the {5-Diamonds} river for 700,000 with fewer than nine blinds behind and that sent Peterman into the think tank. He eventually raised to 3.69 million and Nemeth now dipped into his time bank as well.

With just eight seconds remaining, Nemeth called it off with the {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} but Peterman had made trips with {a-Hearts}{5-Spades} to eliminate the Hungarian in 9th place.

Another period of dull preflop contests suddenly ended when Jargo "bungakat" Alavali limped the small blind. Tom "Daenarys T" Vogelsang raised to 360,000 in the big blind only for Alavali to jam for more than 2.7 million. Vogelsang essentially beat the Estonian into the pot.

The {8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop left Alavali in dire shape and he was left drawing dead on the {10-Diamonds} turn, which made the {q-Clubs} river a formality. Alavali's tournament comes to an end in 7th place for $31,624.

The action kicked off with a min-raise to 500,000 by Elliott "elliottpet" Peterman on the button. This prompted a three-bet to 3.5 million by Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood in the small blind, who had some 2.1 million behind. Peterman moved all-in and Greenwood called it off.

Through a series of hands, Daniel "SmilleThHero" Smiljkovic was able to build his stack to around 8.8 million but couldn't threaten the comfortable lead of Elliott "elliottpet" Peterman just yet.

It was then Peterman who opened to 550,000 on the button and Smiljkovic three-bet to 2.1 million with some 6.6 million behind. Peterman gave it some thought and moved all-in to pick up a snap-call.

Daniel "SmilleThHero" Smiljkovic: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Elliott "elliottpet" Peterman: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

The {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop kept Smiljkovic in the lead but Peterman improved thanks to the {a-Clubs} turn. None of the remaining two tens appeared thereafter but the {6-Clubs} on the river, ending the run of Smiljkovic in second place for $113,745. Peterman, who had started the final table as the chip leader, went all the way and secured the top prize of $146,932, the WCOOP trophy and title along with it.

Elliott "elliottpet" Peterman Wins Maiden WCOOP Title in WCOOP-42-H: $5,200 NLHE ($146,932)

The UK's Elliott "elliottpet" Peterman entered the final table of WCOOP-42-H: $5,200 NLHE as the chip leader and went wire-to-wire in order to become the latest winner of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). It was the first WCOOP title for Peterman, who has been based in Costa Rica for several years. The tournament attracted a field of 136 entries, which came up short of covering the $700,000 guarantee by four entries.

Peterman made the most of the minor overlay and claimed the top prize of $146,932 after defeating Daniel "SmilleThHero" Smiljkovic in a short-lived heads-up battle. The nine-handed final table was filled with numerous WCOOP champions, a club which Peterman has now joined after wrapping up the business end of the tournament in under three and a half hours.

The multiple WCOOP winners Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood, Dzmitry "Colisea" Urbanovich, and Andras "probirs" Nemeth were also among the contenders as well but came up short of going all the way.

Peterman Goes Wire-To-Wire on the Final Table

Peterman led the pack with a stack of 109 big blinds and the first hour brought no eliminations at all. Andras "probirs" Nemeth and Anatoly "NL_Profit" Filatov scored double ups to remain in contention but were then sent to the rail in consecutive hands to reduce the field to the final seven hopefuls.

Jargo "bungakat" Alavali was the next to fall when he ran with king-jack into the ace-king suited of Tom "Daenarys T" Vogelsang and it was also the Dutchman who sent "CrazyLissy" to the rail in order to take over the lead from Peterman. However, Peterman then claimed several bigger pots to storm into a commanding lead with half of the chips in play. Daniel "SmilleThHero" Smiljkovic doubled twice through Vogelsang and knocked out Dzmitry "Colisea" Urbanovich.

Vogelsang was the next to fall and once more it was Smiljkovic who dealt the final blow. Three-handed play was a brief affair as Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood failed to get there with a suited ace against the pocket pair of Peterman. For the final hand of the tournament, the roles were reversed as Peterman four-bet jammed a suited ace into the pocket tens of Smiljkovic. An ace on the turn sealed the victory for the Costa Rica based MTT grinder.

That wraps up the PokerNews live updates for this event but the next high-stakes contest of the WCOOP 2021 is just around the corner.
