Obara Gets There Against Muthu

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

While Mansour Matloubi and Peter Plater slipped down further, Jun Obara as one of the other short stacks made a move that eventually paid off. Obara open-shoved for 117,000 from the small blind and Sathesh Muthu called in the big blind.

Jun Obara: {K-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Sathesh Muthu: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}

The {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop didn't change much yet, but Obara improved to a pair of kings on the {K-Diamonds} turn. A blank {3-Diamonds} river ensured the double up and Muthu lost the lead for the first time since mid-way through the first level of the day.

Asmolov Doubles Through Li

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Timofey Asmolov previously clashed with Shengyu Li and saw his ace-seven lose against king-queen. Both got their stacks in again just now with very similar hands and it was Asmolov, who raised and ultimately four-bet all in for 118,000. Li followed up his three-bet for a call worth almost one third of his stack and the cards were tabled.

Timofey Asmolov: {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Shengyu Li: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The {7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop took away some outs from Li and Asmolov locked up the double with the {A-Hearts} on the turn, making the {7-Spades} river a formality. "King queen again?" Li was asked and he simply nodded.

Aces For Plater; A Nine for Rhee

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Peter Plater raised to 12,000 and picked up the blinds and antes, flashing pocket aces after all opponents folded. He then shoved a {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop against Simon Burns and Timofey Asmolov to claim another pot.

Over on table one, the fireworks started again between Sathesh Muthu and Yo Seb Rhee.

Muthu made it 12,000 to go from the cutoff and Rhee three-bet to 27,000 in the big blind. Muthu called and faced a bet of 25,000 by Rhee on the {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop. Muthu raised to 100,000 and Rhee quickly moved all in for more than 250,000.

After using two time bank chips, Muthu let go and Rhee flashed the {9-Spades}. When he was done with raking in the pot. he sheepishly asked "nine no good?" and Muthu showed no reaction.

Obara and Rhee Shove

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Jun Obara moved all in for the second hand in a row and this time, chip leader Sathesh Muthu asked for a count from one seat over. Obara's all in was for 93,500 and Muthu let go, as did the rest of the table.

Soon after, Muthu raised and picked up a single caller in Yo Seb Rhee in the big blind. Rhee check-called a bet of 22,000 on the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop and checked again the {4-Spades} turn. Muthu fired a second bet worth 45,000 and Rhee check-raised all in. The 45,000 were pulled in and Rhee's all in was for another 110,000 on top.

The clock ran down to five seconds and Muthu let go, preserving his big stack and status as chip leader.

Simon Burns: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Timofey Asmolov: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Burns pumped his fist after scoring a big double up on the unofficial final table bubble.

Chan Runs Out of Chips

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Tsun Ming Chan
Tsun Ming Chan

It was just a matter of time until Tsun Ming Chan made a move with his short stack and he open-shoved for his last 45,000 from the button. Mansour Matloubi had him covered and shoved over the top out of the small blind.

Tsun Ming Chan: {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Mansour Matloubi: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

While Chan was in dire shape, he picked up a few outs on the {K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop. The {6-Spades} turn changed nothing whatsoever, nor did the {A-Hearts} on the river, and Chan was eliminated in 11th place.

Lee Takes from Burns

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Hermann Lee opened to 9,000 from the button and Simon Burns in the small blind three-bet to 23,000, which Lee called. On a flop of {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, Burns checked as did Lee. The {Q-Diamonds} turn saw a delayed continuation bet worth 16,000 by Burns and Lee called before both checked down the {6-Hearts} on the river.

Burns showed {A-Spades}{8-Clubs} for queens and eights, but that ended up second-best to the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a rivered straight of Lee.

Suddenly Down to 11

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Ken Okada Among Recent Casualties
Ken Okada Among Recent Casualties

Celina Lee raised to 10,000 and Jun Obara three-bet to 30,000 out of the small blind, which Lee called. The flop fell {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Obara continued for 30,000, then called the shove of Lee for 35,000 more.

Celine Lee: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Jun Obara: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}

Lee already had a full house and only needed to fear running queens, jacks or aces in order to avoid elimination. The {10-Spades} turn locked uop things with quads, and the {6-Spades} river didn't matter anymore.

Right after, Peter Plater raised out of the small blind and Linh Tran shoved for 40,000 with ace-nine. Plater called with pocket fives and flopped a set to leave Tran empty-handed.

Last but not least, Ken Okada moved all in for 33,000 and Shengyu Li called in the big blind.

Ken Okada: {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Shengyu Li: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}

The {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop improved Li, and Okada found no help anymore on the {6-Diamonds} turn and {2-Hearts} river.

Back over to table one, Sathesh Muthu raised to 12,000 and Mansour Matloubi called. Obara shoved out of the big blind and forced two folds.

In a nutshell, the field was reduced to just 11 players and the chips have been spashing around a fair bit in the last few minutes.
