Jose Astima
Jose Astima

Just before the level went up Guillem Cusco Bach opened from under the gun and got a call from Jose Astima in the big blind.

The flop was {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Astima check-called a bet of 45,000. On the turn {2-Hearts} Bach bet 160,000 and got called again. The river was the {4-Spades} and Bach shoved for 300,000.

Astima thought long and hard before calling with {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Bach had a set {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} though to but Astima.

Law Busts to Kassam in Battle of Blinds

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Chun Law had moved in several times without being called before forfeiting his blinds again. It was then folded to him in the small blind and Law open-shoved for around 500,000. Rehman Kassam checked his cards and called.

Chun Law: {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Rehman Kassam: {K-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Law got it in ahead, but fell behind after a flop of {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. After the {2-Clubs} turn, just three outs remained as Kassam had the clubs covered, and the {10-Hearts} on the river sent Law to the rail in 22nd place.

Call Me Maybe

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The action folded around to Bappie De Haas and he open-shoved from the small blind. Clement Tripodi in the big blind asked for a count and eventually folded after plenty of consideration. "Not this time," Tripodi added and De Haas asked "next time?" to which the Frenchman had only "maybe" to say.

One hand later, De Haas opened to 75,000 from the button and now Tripodi shoved with the superior stack. De Haas tank-folded and was shown the {10-Clubs}.

Geilich Scoops Big Pot Against Steward

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Within three hands, the stack of Kevin Steward was reduced to all but three big blinds and the last remaining PokerStars qualifier then doubled twice. All of the hands were against Ludovic Geilich and it started with a raise from under the gun by Steward. Geilich just called and the duo headed to the {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop.

Steward bet 80,000 after a check by Geilich and the latter check-raised to 185,000. Steward squeezed to 450,000 and Geilich called. On the {4-Clubs} turn both players checked before Geilich bet the {A-Spades} river for 920,000. Steward snap-called with {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} only to see Geilich turn over {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} for a full house.

One hand later, Geilich shoved the small blind with the {J-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Steward called all in with {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, the board came {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}.

Last but not least, Geilich raised the button and Steward shoved for 225,000 from the small blind. Eric Cech in the big blind folded and Geilich called.

Kevin Steward: {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Ludovic Geilich: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Steward doubled again.
