Dinner Break For the Last 14 (full)

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

In the last hand of the level over on table two, Stephen Chidwick raised to 25,000 in the hijack and Christopher Kruk called in the cutoff. The flop of {J-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} brought a check by Chidwick, a bet worth 23,000 by Kruk and a check-raise to 85,000 by Chidwick. Kruk called and the {6-Hearts} on the turn saw Chidwick move all in. Kruk asked for a count, which Chidwick swiftly did himself for 284,000, and that proved to be too much for the Canadian.

The remaining 14 players then headed into a 75-minute dinner break after a previous request to shorten that time similar to the first Single-Day High Roller was denied by Christoph Vogelsang. Play will resume at approximately 8.40 p.m. local time.

Luo Runs Out of Chips

Vladimir Troyanovskiy raised to 35,000 from the cutoff and Xianyang Luo shoved all in for 138,000 on the button. JC Alvarado reshoved from the small blind and Troyanovskiy flung his hand into the muck rather furiously.

Xiaoyang Luo: {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
JC Alvarado: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Luo was delighted to see he was in a coin flip situation and the {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop kept it that way. Luo needed a queen or diamond to win but missed on the {6-Clubs} turn. The {10-Hearts} river even improved Alvarado to a boat and Luo was gone in 14th.

Kruk Dominates After Dinner

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Christopher Kruk opened to 35,000 and Christoph Vogelsang defended his big blind to see a flop of {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Vogelsang checked, Kruk continued for 30,000 and Vogelsang called. Both checked the {2-Hearts} turn and Vogelsang's check on the {2-Diamonds} river was followed up by the shove of Kruk, no call followed.

Thomas Muehloecker limped in and Kruk shoved from the big blind, forcing yet another fold.

A raise by Igor Kurganov saw Vladimir Troyanovskiy shove and Kurganov let go, both then forfeited their blinds to an open-shove of Erik Seidel for more than 300,000.

Palumbo Comes Up Short

Rocco Palumbo & Igor Kurganov
Rocco Palumbo & Igor Kurganov

Rocco Palumbo shoved his last 168,000 from the cutoff and Igor Kurganov called on the button.

Rocco Palumbo: {A-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Igor Kurganov: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

Palumbo and Kurganov have been chatting it up today and the Italian remained all smiles, even when the Russian Team PokerStars Pro knocked him out: {6-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. He shook Kurganov's hand and said his goodbyes in 13th place.

Two days ago, PokerNews' Laura Cornelius spoke with Palumbo and talked about tilt control.

Kruk Bad Beats Beresford

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Conor Beresford
Conor Beresford

Conor Beresford three-bet all in for his last 157,000 and initial raiser Christopher Kruk called.

Conor Beresford: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Christopher Kruk: {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Beresford had the better hand going into the showdown, but that all changed on the {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop. After the {3-Spades} turn and {9-Diamonds} river, Kruk's two pair held up and Beresford left the table with a "good hand."

Kruk Also KO's Kho

Shortly after dispatching Conor Beresford, Christopher Kruk also took care of Kitson Kho as well. Kho was all in for just 45,000 in the cutoff and Kruk called in the big blind.

Kitson Kho: {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Christopher Kruk: {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop paired up Kruk and Kho needed running cards or a jack to remain in contention. Both the {Q-Hearts} turn and {9-Hearts} river blanked and suddenly the field was reduced to just 10 hopefuls.

Chidwick Sends Khoroshenin to the Rail

Oleksii Khoroshenin (left) falls short of the final table
Oleksii Khoroshenin (left) falls short of the final table

Oleksii Khoroshenin was all in for a mere 107,000 from the button and Stephen Chidwick called instantly out of the big blind.

Oleksii Khoroshenin: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Stephen Chidwick: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The board of {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and that sent Khoroshenin to the rail, reducing the field to the last nine. They will now combine to the final table and the money bubble looms.

Juanda Eliminated, Final Table Eight-Handed

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

At the short-handed table, JC Alvardo was hammering his big stack around to pressure his shorter-stacked opponents. This time, Alvarado open-shoved from the button, with Muehloecker and Juanda both having over 20 big blinds in the blinds.

Muehloecker folded and Juanda went in the tank. While Juanda was thinking, Oleksii Khoroshenin busted at the other table to make the final table official. Juanda thought some more and then called it off for 361,000.

JC Alvarado: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
John Juanda: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}

The {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop added a flush draw to Alvarado's outs. The {4-Spades} on the turn was a blank but the {4-Hearts} on the river brought the third heart to knock Juanda out in 9th, two places shy of the money. The final table will now be played eight-handed from the start.
