Deroche Busts One, Shin Gets a Double

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

In the first of two hands, Peter Deroche opened to 8,000 and he was called from both blinds. On the {7-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop, after a check from the small blind, the big blind put out a bet of 3,000. Deroche shoved, and the small blind got out of the way.

The big blind called, but ended up dominated. He was playing ten-deuce for top pair, but Deroche's kicker was miles better with {a-}{10-}. {10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} on the turn and river left Deroche with the best hand, and he sent his opponent to the rail.

In the very next hand, after a raise and a couple calls preflop, Michelle Shin went all in for 6,400, and she was called in two spots. The flop came {2-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Deven Lane checked to the player on the button. He tossed in a bet of 8,000, and Lane got out of the way.

With the cards open, Shin's {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} was in rough shape to the {k-Diamonds}{q-} of her opponent. The turn {6-Spades} changed nothing, but Shin jumped out of her seat when the {10-Spades} hit the river.

"I'm so lucky," she said with a smile collecting her chips.

Meanwhile, in earlier action on the same table, Allen Alejandro busted from the tournament.

Skoden's Aces Hold

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Les Skoden had his opponent covered when he went all in preflop for effectively 15,000. Once the player in middle position called, Skoden just needed to fade two outs to chip up and collect the bounty.

Skoden: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The flop gave Skoden top set {10-Clubs}{a-Spades}{4-Spades} but his opponent picked up a gut shot on the turn {q-Diamonds}. The river was a brick {5-Clubs} and Skoden sent his opponent to the rail.

Allejandro Gets There the Dirty Way

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Ron Lauzon put in a raise from the cutoff to 1,600, and he was called in all three of the remaining spots.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} and action folded around to Allan Alejandro on the button, and he shoved for his remaining 4,500. Deven Lane was the only caller, from the big blind, and Lane was ahead with [3x4] against the over cards and flush draw of Alejandro with {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

Alejandro was drawing very live to the flush, but when the turn and river came {8-Diamonds}{q-Spades} Alejandro was able to counterfeit Lane's two pair with a bigger twp pair of his own.

Meanwhile, last year's winner of this event, Dylan Ellis, was nursing a short stack coming back from the break, and he busted just prior to this hand.
