Holz Pulls Further Ahead

Level 23 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Nick Petrangelo opened to 190,000 in the small blind and chip leader Fedor Holz called from the big blind. The {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop triggered a bet of 100,000 by Petrangelo and a call by Holz. After the {6-Diamonds} turn, Petrangelo checked and Holz bet 115,000 to win the pot without resistance.

He then raised the small blind against Isaac Haxton and the big blind and big blind ante were collected by the German wunderkind.

Holz and Haxton Click Buttons

Level 23 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

The action was on Fedor Holz in the small blind and he made it 200,000 to go, more than three big blinds in total.

Isaac Haxton as the current chip leader by a rather small margin was in the big blind and reraised to 445,000. What followed was Holz's click back to 800,000 and Haxton surrendered to drop back into second place.

David Peters Eliminated in 6th Place ($315,600)

Level 23 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
David Peters
David Peters

Fedor Holz raised to 130,000 from under the gun and it folded all the way to David Peters in the big blind. He pushed all in for 710,000 and Holz asked for a count, then made the call for essentially half of his stack.

David Peters: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Fedor Holz: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop left Peters on very thin ice and he needed running cards. It was all over on the {6-Hearts} turn as Holz made nines full, which made the {8-Spades} river a formality. Peters became the first casualty in the money and collects $315,600 for his efforts.

Holz Raises the River Against Ponakovs

Level 23 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Fedor Holz made it 110,000 to go on the button and was called by Aleksejs Ponakovs out of the big blind. Both checked the {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Spades} flop and Ponakovs led the {9-Spades} turn for 100,000, earning a call from Holz.

As the {10-Diamonds} river completed the board, Ponakovs announced a bet of 125,000. The time bank of Holz almost reached zero before he grabbed into his stack, removed one T-25,000 chip and then raised it up to 475,000.

Ponakovs was sent into a brief tank and folded, becoming the joint short stack alongside David Peters. The new level was already underway for four minutes by then but only in the following hand, the blinds moved up.

Haxton Pulls Further Ahead

Level 22 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Fedor Holz raised to 110,000 from under the gun and folded when David Peters moved all-in for 470,000 in the big blind.

Shortly after, Holz limped the small blind and Isaac Haxton checked in the big blind. On a {q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop, Holz check-called for 50,000 and checked again the {10-Spades} turn. Haxton bet 70,000 and that won the pot uncontested.

Haxton Busts Mateos on the Bubble

Level 22 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

In the hand just prior, Aleksejs Ponakovs had opened to 125,000 and Isaac Haxton defended the big blind to check-fold a {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop to a continuation bet.

Fast forward to the next hand, it folded all the way to Haxton in the small blind and he inquired about the stack size of Adrian Mateos in the big blind. As the second shortest stack, he had 570,000 behind and Haxton pulled the trigger with a shove.

Mateos then checked his cards and called on the money bubble.

Adrian Mateos: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Isaac Haxton: {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop gave Mateos top pair and top kicker while Haxton then spiked the {4-Spades} on the turn for the wheel. Only a trey could save Mateos but the {8-Hearts} river let the bubble burst in cruel fashion.

Peters Keeps His Cool Under Pressure

Level 22 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
David Peters
David Peters

David Peters kept his short stack afloat when raising to 200,000 from under the gun, claiming the blinds and big blind ante.

In the next hand, it folded to Nick Petrangelo in the small blind and he simply raised to 500,000. Peters checked the cards and folded moments later.

Fast forward to the next hand, it was folded to Peters in the small blind and his jam for 290,000 got through Fedor Holz in the big blind.

Haxton Cannot Shake Off O'Dwyer

Level 22 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

The final two hands of the previous level brought some action but didn't result in an all-in showdown on the bubble just yet.

Isaac Haxton opened to 80,000 on the button and Fedor Holz defended the big blind to then check-fold the {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop when Haxton bet 50,000.

O'Dwyer raised to 90,000 next and Haxton defended the big blind. The {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop was checked by Haxton, who then opted for a check-raise from 50,000 to 115,000. O'Dwyer stuck around and had 425,000 behind.

The {8-Spades} turn was checked and the same applied for the {5-Hearts} river in a hand that lasted more than seven minutes.

Haxton revealed the {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and jacks and eights but O'Dwyer had that beat with {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for superior two pair.
