Back-to-Back Monster Pots for Koonce

Level 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Jason_Koonce
Jason_Koonce

Picking up the action on the turn with around 350,000 already in the middle, the board read {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Jason Koonce led out for 225,000 from the big blind and Mustapha Kanit called from the button. The river was the {10-Clubs} and Koonce quickly shoved all in, putting Kanit to the test for his remaining 515,000 chips. The Italian thought for a minute but eventually, let his hand go.

In the very next hand, Christoph Vogelsang moved all in for 335,000 in early position and Kanit also ripped all in for 515,000 in the cutoff. Koonce looked down at his cards in the small blind and re-shoved all in as well.

Jason Koonce: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Mustapha Kanit: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Christoph Vogelsang: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Koonce was in line for another massive pot heading his way and the flop of {j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} left him well out front. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn gave Vogelsang a straight draw but the {5-Clubs} on the river gave Koonce the double knockout and a massive stack of chips.

Yan Li: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Yiannis Liperis: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}

Last Break on Day 3 as 50 Players Remain

Level 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Six levels are over and the field of 207 hopefuls has been cut down all the way to the last 50. The last two to bust were Andrei Kurov and Dustin Dirksen, the former sent his stack over to Talal Shakerchi.

Kurov had moved all in after the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades} turn with {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} only to see Shakerchi snap-call with the {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} for trips tens. The {9-Spades} river was a blank and Kurov was done for the day.

All remaining players are now on a 30-minute break, two levels remain for tonight.

O'Brien Doubles Through Badziakouski

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

After an under-the-gun open to 65,000, Mikita Badziakouski made it 195,000 in the cutoff. Dan O'Brien eyed him for a bit and used a time bank before jamming for exactly that amount. Action folded back to the high-stakes crusher.

Mikita Badziakouski: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Dan O'Brien: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, safe for an O'Brien double.

The Three Brothers Greenwood Make the Money in the PSPC

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

It wasn't a mistake: There were three Greenwoods in the counts. And eventually, the same three Greenwoods will appear in the payouts.

The brothers Greenwood - Sam, Luc and Max - have all had high levels of success in poker, combining for $16.7 million in live cashes between them. While Sam and Luke continue on the full-time grind though, Max has mostly left the game behind for the past 2.5 years.

Here in the $25,000 buy-in PokerStars No-Limit Hold’em Players Championship, the three are reunited for a rare tournament, and the family is putting together a solid run. Find out what they had to say about it here on the PokerNews homepage.

Marsh Jams Into Duta

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Until the river of a completed board of {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{K-Spades}, a pot of around 700,000 emerged and Luke Marsh checked his option over to Florian Duta. The latter bet 385,000 and Marsh used one time bank extension before announcing all in.

Duta was thrown back almost immediately and sighed, then counted his remaining stack. After using two time bank extensions, he shook his head and sent the cards into the muck.

Sam Greenwood Eliminated

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Sam Greenwood moved all in under the gun for 325,000 and Julien Martini called on his left. Everyone else folded.

Sam Greenwood: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Julien Martini: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} did nothing for Greenwood but the {10-Spades} made him a favorite to double on the turn. However, the river was the {a-Hearts} and Greenwood hit the rail.
