Event #5: $7,500 GTD PKO Bounty
Day 1 Completed
The partypoker US Network Players Choice Series continued Wednesday night with the $320 buy-in Event #5: $7.5k GTD PKO Bounty. Less than five hours later, Ryan "TheSims" Hohner emerged victorious over a field of 59, earning the top prize of $2,257 and adding another $2,545 in bounties to go along with it for a sum of $4,802. His winnings totaled more than 25% of the overall $17,700 prize pool, a number that more than doubled the guarantee after meeting it early in Level 4.
Hohner found his own bounty claimed once during the two-and-a-half-hour late registration period and despite there being unlimited re-entries, he only needed one more shot to make a run to the final table of eight, all of which made it into the money.
Place | Player | Prize | Bounties | Total Prize |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Ryan "TheSims" Hohner | $2,257 | $2,545 | $4,802 |
2 | Got_Milk | $2,255 | $1,008 | $3,263 |
3 | Don "dhimp20" Himpele | $1,531 | $1,340 | $2,871 |
4 | ScarletRaptor | $951 | $225 | $1,176 |
5 | juansolo10 | $690 | $75 | $765 |
6 | ChickenTendies | $504 | $562 | $1,066 |
7 | Yong "IReadYrSoul" Kwon | $371 | $188 | $559 |
8 | John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza | $287 | $469 | $756 |
Hohner entered the final table in the middle of the pack but wound up doubling eventual runner up "Got_Milk" to leave himself short when seven remained. He was able to hang around as Yong "IReadYrSoul" Kwon was eliminated in seventh, and continued to stay alive as the field was halved from six to three over the next 15 minutes.
He then went on his tear, doubling through "Got_Milk" and then taking a big pot off of Don "dhimp20" Himpele who had entered the final table and remained there to that point. After the won pot, Hohner took the chip lead and never relinquished it continuing to increase his stack before Himpele was eliminated by "Got_Milk" in third place.
Hohner went into heads-up play with just over 60% of the chips in play and both players fairly deep stacked, but those stacks got in relatively quickly after "Got_Milk" flopped a set of tens and called an all-in reraise from Hohner, who had flopped a straight that held to earn him the W.
PokerNews coverage of the partypoker US Network Players Choice Series will continue on Friday with Event #6: $55 R+A at 8 p.m. ET, so be sure to come back then.
