"Ptkceaser" Back In Action

"Ptkceaser"
"Ptkceaser"

In Level 6 with blinds of 500/1,000 and an ante of 125, the last hand before break saw three-handed action to a board of {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Spades} with 24,400 in the middle.

"Ptkceaser" checked under the gun to put action on Ryan "Whosyourdoddy" Dodd in middle position, who made a pot-sized bet of 24,400. "BrigBeast06" was on the button and jammed for 81,200, and "Ptkceaser" called all in for 72,700. Dodd covered both players and called as well, giving him a shot at two knockouts in one hand.

"Ptkceaser": {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
"BrigBeast06": {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Ryan "Whosyourdoddy" Dodd: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}

"Ptkceaser" was looking at a triple with their nine-high straight provided they could fade both flush draws their two opponents held. The river {2-Diamonds} was safe and the triple was sent their way.

However, "Ptkceaser" was the shortest stack of the three, meaning Dodd won the small side pot of 17,000 and earned the bounty of "BrigBeast06" to go along with it.

"ChickenTendies" Gets a Full Double

"ChickenTendies"
"ChickenTendies"

In Level 5 with blinds of 400/800 and an ante of 100, "ChickenTendies" opened in the cutoff and was three-bet to 8,000 by "pay4medsch00l" in the small blind. "ChickenTendies" four-bet to 27,700 and "pay4medsch00l" five-bet jammed for 77,000, receiving an all-in call for slightly less after a few moments of thought.

"ChickenTendies": {k-Spades}{5-Spades}
"pay4medsch00l": {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

"ChickenTendies" was dominated but the flop {5-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades} brought one of the three cards in the deck that could put them out in front. They remained there through the turn {2-Diamonds} and river {10-Diamonds} and earned the double as a result, leaving "pay4medsch00l" with just over 4,000 remaining after doing so.

Eric “alwaysliquid” Vanauken Looking for More partypoker US Success

Eric Vanauken
Eric Vanauken

Eric “alwaysliquid” Vanauken is a name you should know as he's become on of the most accomplished players on the partypoker US Network.

A couple of months ago, Vanauken accomplished the incredible feat of capturing back-to-back titles not once, but twice.

In the July 6-12 series, he topped a 134-entry field to win Event #4: $15,000 GTD NLH for nearly $7,500, and then the next night bested 144 runners to win Event #5: $,7500 GTD Green Chip Bounty for $3,145. Then, at the end of July, he won the $320 buy-in Event #3: $15,000 GTD PKO Bounty for $6,393 and a day later emerged victorious in the $215 buy-in Event #4: $12,000 GTD PKO Bounty Boost for $5.691.

PokerNews recently had the chance to chat with Vanauken about his recent successes.

Money Never Sleeps

For the 43-year-old Vanauken, who is married with three kids ages 7, 10, and 19, he’s never really had a nine-to-five job. Instead, he fancies himself a real estate broker engaging in flips and investments while playing poker on the side of course.

“I first learned playing $4/$8 limit at Foxwoods in early 2000 and now play now $20/$40 and $30/$60 when I can find a game, or settle on $1/$2 or $2/$5 NLH," he said. "I have played the WSOP Main Event two times with no luck busting on Day 2 both times.”

Additionally, Vanauken grinds a decent amount on the virtual tables under the screen name “alwaysliquid,” which stems from the movie Wall Street when Gordon Gekko tells Bud Fox about how money never sleeps and you need to always be liquid.

“Since New Jersey went legal I play on Borgata and WSOP. I used to play PokerStars but had an issue with them over a year ago and have since boycotted them. I do very well on Borgata. I even shipped the Mega Thursday [not long ago] on my phone from an Applebee’s parking lot as I had no WiFi at home due to power outage.”

As for his recent successes on partypoker US, Vanauken was pleased but wanted to remain humble.

“I am humbled to be able to compete with all of the great players in New Jersey,” he said. “I’m proud that all of my studying and grinding has been producing favorable results in the past few years, taking me from an average breakeven player to a profitable one. At the same time, I try to maintain being humble with this great game and what it has provided for me and my family.”

Proudest Poker Accomplishments

For Vanauken, the scores rank up there among his proudest poker accomplishments, which includes beating a poker legend.

“In 2013, I beat Joe McKeehen for the Borgata Limit Championship,” Vanauken said. “I think that was the last limit event held at Borgata.”

Other highlights on his poker résumé include finishing sixth in the 2018 WSOP Circuit at Canada’s Playground Poker Club and finishing runner-up in a pair of WSOP Circuit online events back in March.

“So close to a ring but the two cashes of $35k and $20k within a few days definitely eased the quarantine pain,” Vanauken said.

With the latest partypoker US Network Online Series happening now, only time will tell if Vanauken can keep his streak of winning back-to-back events alive.

In Level 4 with blinds of 300/600 and an ante of 75, the number of entries in the tournament has grown to 25, meaning the guaranteed prize pool of $7,500 has been met.

Just under two hours of late registration still remain, and in the meantime, Jon "Jetsfan411" Borenstein has earned the only bounty so far, knocking "Ptkceaser" out of the tournament. Borenstein is also the chip leader at present moment.

Yong "YK" Kwon
Yong "YK" Kwon

In Level 3 with blinds of 250/500 and an ante of 60, Stanton "Stonniepokes" Tentnowski raised in middle position and was three-bet to 3,100 by Yong "IReadYrSoul" Kwon in the cutoff. All remaining players folded and action went heads up to a flop of {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Both players checked.

Action again checked through both the turn {10-Spades} and river {5-Diamonds} to take the hand to showdown, and Tentnowski showed {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. The higher of his two cards was outpipped by Kwon's {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, which earned him the small pot.

"Cholie" Ramps Up the Aggression

"Cholie"
"Cholie"

In Level 2 with blinds of 200/400 and an ante of 60, "Chips_Jammed" opened the action with a raise to 1,000 under the gun. Jon "jetsfan411" Borenstein called in the cutoff, as did "Cholie", who defended their big blind.

The three players saw a flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{k-Spades} and "Cholie" checked. "Chips_Jammed" made a continuation-bet of 2,000 and Borenstein called. Action was then back on "Cholie" and they check-raised to 10,000. "Chips_Jammed" called to send action over to Borenstein, who folded.

Action was then heads up to the turn {j-Clubs} and "Cholie" continued with a pot-sized bet of 26,220, nearly half their remaining stack. "Chips_Jammed" decided it was not worth it to commit any further chips to the pot and clicked the fold button to earn "Cholie" the pot.

Welcome To Event #5 of the partypoker US Network Players Choice Series

partypoker US BetMGM Borgata
partypoker US BetMGM Borgata

Thursday night marks another tournament within the week-long partypoker US Network Players Choice Series, with Event #5: $7,500 GTD PKO Bounty set to begin at 8 p.m. local time. The event features a buy-in of $320, and registration is open for all within the state of New Jersey across the three platforms of partypoker US, Borgata Poker and BetMGM Poker.

The popular Progressive Knockout format is in effect for this event, which means half of each player's buy-in will be placed atop their heads as a bounty should they be eliminated. Each time a bounty is collected, the player directly earns half of that amount while the other half is added to their own cumulative bounty.

Players receive starting stacks of 75,000 with blinds beginning at 150/300 and an ante of 40. Late registration and unlimited re-entries will remain open through the end of Level 15 (2,500/5,000/625), with levels lasting 10 minutes apiece through that time and raising to 12 minutes in length come Level 24 (12,000/24,000/3,000).

As usual, PokerNews will be bringing you highlights of the action as it unfolds, from the first collection of antes until the final pot is shipped to the victor. Be sure to hang around.
