Alex Foxen Captures Day 3 Chip Lead; Riess, Bicknell, Leonard, Labat Also Make It

Level 24 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Alex Foxen
Alex Foxen

After eight levels of play, 63 players remain from the 224 that started the day. Day 3 of the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK Main Event was action-packed even though the bubble was an undramatic one. Bagging a huge chip lead is Alex Foxen with 46,525,000 - the equivalent of 133 big blinds.

Foxen collected most of those chips when he eliminated Tobias Ziegler with aces against Ziegler's kings. By winning that pot of around 40 million, Foxen grabbed the chip lead and didn’t let it go. Trailing him by about 30 big blinds is Fadil Isufi (35,800,000) who eliminated Niall Farrell earlier in the day. Closing the podium in third place is John Haigh with 34,275,000 in chips.

Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

Also through to Day 4 is 2013 WSOP Main Event Champion Ryan Riess (26,650,000). Riess had 36 million at his high point but unfortunately lost a big pot at the end of the day. Ioannis Angelou-Konstas was short at one point and had to shove with jack-six for his last 13 big blinds and managed to hit on the river to double up. After that he managed to ran his stack up to a healthy 92 big blinds (32,250,000).

partypoker is still represented by two pros, Kristen Bicknell (27,725,000) and Patrick Leonard (22,750,000). Bicknell spent quite some time on the feature table and managed to run her stack up to more than six times her starting stack on the day. Leonard started on a tough table but managed to collect quite a few chips to finish with a more than above average stack.

Other players also bagging today include Mohsin Charania (28,400,000), Michael Wang (21,575,000), 2018 WSOP Main Event ninth place finisher Antoine Labat (21,200,000), Max Silver (19,725,000), Sam Grafton (19,250,000), Dietrich Fast (17,275,000), and many more players.

Players who didn’t make Day 4 but did make it into the money include Andy Black, Preben Stokkan, Paul Michaelis, James Ablott, Tom Middleton, James Mitchell, Paul Nunes, Scott Margereson, Joao Vieira, Gianluca Speranza, Manig Loeser, Christopher Andler, Ivan Deyra, Guillaume Diaz, partypoker pro Natalia Breviglieri, Niall Farrell, Michael Tureniec and more unfortunate players.

Players will return at noon to play Level 25 which features a small blind of 175,000, big blind of 350,000 and a button ante of 350,000. Eight levels of play are scheduled again but might be subject to change.

Betts Doubles Through Hoadley

Level 24 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Russell Betts
Russell Betts

The completed board was down {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Russell Betts, playing from early position, was heads-up against Richard Hoadley in the small blind.

There was around 5.5m in the pot, and Betts had 6.2m behind him. Hoadley had a stack worth 13m and moved all in, which Betts snap-called.

Hoadley revealed {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a bluff and Betts had hit a straight on the river with {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Betts raked in the pot to move up to 18.5m and Hoadley was left with 7m.

Aces Against Kings For Loads

Level 24 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Tobias Ziegler
Tobias Ziegler

Tobias Ziegler has been eliminated and Alex Foxen was sporting a stack that was a bit bigger than a few minutes before. Ioannis Angelou-Konstas was kind enough to relate what had happened.

Foxen raised to 600,000 from the cutoff, Ziegler three-bet to 2,500,000. Foxen responded with a four-bet to 5,600,000 and Ziegler reacted by shoving for about 20,000,000. Foxen called. Foxen had the better hand with {a-}{a-} and Ziegler was behind with {k-}{k-}.

The board ran out {j-}{3-}{2-}{6-}{8-} to not provide any help to Ziegler and the German was sent away from the Main Event tables.

Ciureanu Doubles Through Ward

Level 23 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Alexandru Ciureanu
Alexandru Ciureanu

Alexandru Ciureanu was all-in and at risk from under the gun for the 5,175,000 he had behind. Philip Ward has called from the hijack with the bigger stack.

Alexandru Ciureanu: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Philip Ward: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The flop came {9-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds} to give Ward a set of jacks.

The {7-Clubs} on the turn didn't change the situation.

The {k-Spades} on the river however though gave Ciureanu the higher set to double up and leave Ward behind with only 600,000.

Michaelis Takes Big Pot

Level 21 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

The pot in the middle contained around 1,100,000 already and the flop read {q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

Both Paul Michaelis and Lauren Render had checked in the blinds. Dean Hutchison bet 450,000 from the early position. Michaelis and Render both made the call.

They all checked through the {8-Clubs} on the turn to the {2-Diamonds} on the river. Michaelis bet 820,000. Render glanced at the board, bet, and Michaelis and then called. Hutchison quickly folded.

Michaelis tabled {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} for the flopped two pair with the ace-kicker. Render showed {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for the same two pair but the lower kicker.

Proudfoot's Bluff Caught by Nixon

Level 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Jamie Nixon
Jamie Nixon

Jonathan Proudfoot raised to 260,000 from mid-position and both Adam Hilton and Jamie Nixon called in the blinds.

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} and both Hilton and Nixon checked. Proudfoot continued with a bet of 350,000 and only Nixon called.

The turn was the {k-Spades}, Nixon check-called the 800,000 continuation-bet of Proudfoot.

The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs}, Nixon checked for the last time. Proudfoot barreled another 2,500,000 over the line. Nixon tanked, having to use a time bank card and then called. Proudfoot tabled {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for the bluff. Nixon scooped the pot with {10-Spades}{7-Spades} for two pair, nines and sevens, to take him to almost 13 million.
