Papazian and Shalamov Eliminated
The big stack of Gerald Karlic was the result of a big double against Alexandru Papazian when the former turned a straight with five-six and the latter's flopped set of nines could not improve to a full house. The stacks went in after the river, though, and Papazian was left with just one million.
Those chips then went to Pierre Neuville, who cracked the kings of the Romanian with after a flop. Another queen fell on the turn to spell the end for Papazian. He left the table with a smile and said "I didn't spew this time, at least I think so," and Karlic also admitted that both hands were coolers.
Mikhail Shalamov was also among those to bust. He three-bet his last 20 big blinds with pocket jacks and initial raiser Aleksei Kozlov called with queens to scoop the pot.
