One at a Time

We've lost one more player, and it wasn't Mr. Grumpy from the previous hand.

With 49 players left, we're now just one elimination from a massive ovation, and the tournament is being dealt hand-for-hand.

Bubble Status: Burst!

The bubble is behind us, and in rather quick and dramatic fashion. Check it out:

Daniela de Lima Zapiello opened her second-consecutive pot with a raise to 10,000. The man next to her called, and Pedro Komaromi came along from the button.

Three handed, the flop came out {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {7-Spades}, and all three players checked. When the {10-Spades} hit the turn, Zappielo led out with a delayed continuation bet of 15,000. The monkey in the middle called, but Komaromi wanted to play for more. Without much hesitation, he stuck in a raise to 50,000 straight. Zappielo made the smooth call while the third player folded out of their way.

The {8-Spades} filled out the board on fifth street. Komaromi only had about 25,000 left in front of him, and Zappielo went ahead and bet enough to put him to the test. The call came instantly, Komaromi slamming down his {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} for the full house.

But it was no good.

Quiet as a mouse, Zappielo flipped up {A-Spades} {8-Clubs}. Aces full beat tens full every day, and Komaromi could hardly believe his eyes. A number of his fellow Uruguayans came to console their countryman, but the now-eliminated Komaromi could only stand at the table and shake his head.

With that, Pedro has become the unfortunate bubble boy, and he had to deal with the added pain of watching the rest of the room break into a standing celebration of his exit. Everyone who still has chips is now guaranteed a payday when they leave.

A Bad Oomen

It's short-stack shove time! Rom Oomen was the most recent man to participate in the shovefest, moving all in for 23,500 with {K-Spades} {7-Spades}. He made it safely all the way around to the big blind where Martin Sansour quickly called with the covering stack, slightly behind with {Q-Spades} {J-Clubs}.

He wasn't behind for long though. The board ran {J-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}, and that is awfully unkind to Oomen. He's become the latest victim of the Day 2 post-bubble fun.

Forty-one players remain.

I'm Oliver Rowe, and This is My Job

We joined big action in a heads-up pot on a flop showing {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {6-Spades}. A betting and raising war broke out that resulted in Oliver Rowe being all in for a very healthy 182,500. His opponent was ahead with {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, and he had Rowe covered by just about 15,000 chips. Cards on their backs, fellas:

Rowe: {Q-Spades} {10-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}

"Keep it low, and keep it red!" pleaded the unknown player. But his cries would fall on the dealer's deaf ears. The turn came the {K-Spades} to end the drama right there, Rowe having made an unbeatable spade flush. When the {7-Spades} filled out the board, the massive pot was pushed over to Oliver's corner, doubling him up into third place overall with about 370,000.

Rowe is familiar with this position. He finished in 5th place at this event one year ago, and he's well on his way to another shot at the LAPT Punta del Este final table this time around.
