Three Tables Left Already

Level 14 : Blinds 0/0, 20,000 ante

In a hurry, the field is reduced to the final three tables and the latest player to fall was Hu Xiao. He was moved tables to balance and then got it in with the KJ. Chip leader Kobe looked him up with the A8 and both players missed the 109666 board for ace-high to play.

Also out are Hong Ye, Zong Bao and Chen.

The fifth table broke as the field was reduced to the final 23 already and another two players then ran out of chips.

Ming Zhong Liu lost a big all-in to Feng with AQ versus K7 in a preflop all-in when the board came K96Q8. He was left with a severe short stack while Ivan Zhang was knocked out soon after on a nearby table.

There was then a large commotion on table three when Ming Yan was all-in against Joy. Both had their stacks in the middle already when the turn showed Q106J with Yan at risk holding J10 for two pair. Joy had Q10 for superior two pair and the K river changed nothing anymore.

Winner to be Crowned in the 2024 Jin Bei Cup $50,000 Short Deck Main Event

Quan Zhou

The final day of the inaugural 2024 Jin Bei Cup series at the lavish five-star Jin Bei Palace Hotel in Sihanoukville has arrived. It will be the thrilling conclusion for one of the largest high-stakes short deck tournaments thus far and the $5,000,000 guarantee in the $50,000 Short Deck Main Event has been virtually reached thanks to 96 entries on Day 1.

However, with the late registration and add-on option still available prior to the start of Day 2 at 2 p.m. local time, the overall tally will grow further and that will also have an influence on the pre-determined payouts of the top three spots as well. The fireworks on yesterday's Day 1 never really stopped and the field was whittled down to just 23 survivors, all hailing from China.

Leading the way for the final day is Da Seng Sun with 3,900,000, thirteen times the total starting stack after a roller coaster ride in the final stages. He is followed by Kobe, who finished with 3,175,000 and there is already a gap to Quan Zhou in third place, who bagged up 2,180,000. He is fifth on the China's all-time money list with nearly $8.8 million in cashes and may add another big payday to his resume today.

Esti Wang, a familiar face from the Triton Poker high-stakes short deck tournaments and cash games, returns with 1,206,000 in chips whereas Yang Yang (880,000), Ming Zhong Liu (850,000), Fei Xu (821,000), and Lirui "Ivan" Zhang (774,000) also hope to reach the money stages and beyond.

Among those expected to re-enter are Singapore's number one Kenneth Kee, WSOP Short Deck bracelet winner Martin Nielsen, Dan "Jungleman" Cates as well as Tom "durrrr" Dwan who all bowed out on an action-filled opening day of the tournament.

Players can enter and re-enter until 2 p.m. local time and everyone also has the option to purchase additional add-ons as well. They can choose to add one or two stacks on top, with each stack exchanging the buy-in amount for 300,000 chips.

The antes for level 13 will be 15,000 with a button double ante of 30,000. Until a winner has been crowned, the levels will breeze by at a duration of 30 minutes each and that guarantees plenty of action all the way to the eventual conclusion.

So far, at least 12 spots will be paid as confirmed by the organisers prior to the tournament with the biggest slice reserved for the top three finishers. Based on the guarantee of $5,000,000, the podium spots will come with these huge prizes:

  • First Place: $1,500,000
  • Second Place: $800,000
  • Third Place: $600,000

At 4 p.m. local time, there is also a final $10,600 Hyper Turbo NLH Side Event with a 20-minute duration as well that runs concurrently with the marquee event of the series.

The high-stakes short deck tournament here in Cambodia will recommence at 2 p.m. local time and the PokerNews team will be back on the floor to bring you as many of the showdowns as possible until a champion has been crowned.
