"Maybe I'm Saving Money"

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Syd Masters
Syd Masters

"Floor!" said the dealer, calling tournament director Patrick Roy over to the table to let him know the situation.

Andrew Peragallo had opened to 2,500 from under the gun and the dealer did not announce the raise. Action then folded around to Syd Masters, who was on the cutoff, and had raised to 4,000 without seeing Peragallo's open.

It appeared as though Masters, having not seen Peragallo's open, wished to reraise larger. However, the raise to 4,000 was exactly the amount required for a minimum raise and thus the ruling was that the 4,000 would stay. Action folded back to Peragallo, who four-bet to 20,000.

"Maybe I'm saving money here!" said Masters, thinking about his situation. He then reaffirmed the situation to himself, sending his cards to the muck with a laugh. Despite the lost pot, Masters has chipped up to over 150K and is one of the largest stacks in the room as the tournament enters the dinner break.

Wilkie Joins the Field

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Steve Wilkie has been seen registering and taking his seat in the tournament area with around 10 minutes left before the dinner break.

He stated before sitting down that he was planning to make it up for the 7 p.m. satellite with the idea of firing tomorrow's heat no matter what. When his plans changed and he found himself inside the Golden Gates Poker Parlour with time to spare, he decided to fire a shot at the Main Event instead.

WIlkie comes up to Black Hawk fresh off increasing his career earnings to $200,000 after chopping the Colorado Poker Championship in this very room last month for $60,114. The chop was with a friend of his, Nate Zoller, who was a final table participant at HPT Golden Gates here in July, where he took fourth place for $42,815.

Rich Monroe
Rich Monroe

Noomis Jones limped in from middle position and saw action fold around to Rich Monroe, who went all in from the small blind for 22,000. Will Berry was in the big blind and went all in over the top for 28,200, putting action back on Jones.

"I hate folding, you know?" said Jones after around 40 seconds in the tank. "I fold," he said as he showed {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.

Rich Monroe: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Will Berry: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The board came out {3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, giving Monroe the nut flush to crack Berry's tens, securing the double while leaving Berry short with less than half of Level 9 remaining before the dinner break and the last chance to register.

"That's It, Top Set?" - Gonzales Hits Six Figures

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Krzysztof Stybaniewicz opened to 2,000 from under the gun and was three-bet to 6,000 by Danny Gonzales, who was on his direct left. Action folded back to Stybaniewicz and he made the call.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and Stybaniewicz checked. Gonzales put out a continuation-bet of 4,000 and Stybaniewicz folded fairly quickly.

"That's it, top set?" said the dealer. Gonzales had shown {a-}{a-} and the dealer mucked it upon his own words, however, Gonzales confirmed the action was true after the hand.

"First time I showed today. I had to have it."

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Andreas Ramadanis
Andreas Ramadanis

Andreas Ramadanis opened to 2,000 from the hijack and was called by the player on the button. The big blind then squeezed, three-betting all in, which prompted Ramadanis to ask for a count. The number was totaled to be 14,000 and he slid in a stack of chips to reraise, pushing the player on the button out of the hand.

Big Blind: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Andreas Ramadanis: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop fell {10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, leaving Ramadanis way out in front of his opponent's aces after flopping broadway. He faded chop outs as well as running full house outs on the runout, with the turn {8-Hearts} and river {3-Hearts} sealing the deal as he added his newly-acquired chips to his stack.

Masters Forces a Fold

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Syd Masters
Syd Masters

A player in early position raised to 2,500 and was called by another player in middle position. Syd Masters was in the cutoff and three-bet to 7,000. Both of his opponents called.

The dealer fanned a flop of {2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and the early-positon player led out for 7,000. The middle-position player folded and Masters asked the bettor to see how much he had left in his stack. He then called.

The turn came {3-Spades} and the early-position player bet another 12,000, leaving himself 12,100 behind. Masters slid in a raise much bigger than what his opponent had left, sending the player into the tank for about a minute. Eventually, the player folded and Masters saw the pot shipped his way.
