Thorel Busts in Three-Way Pot

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Juha Helppi raised to 32,000 and was called by Jean-Noel Thorel in the small blind and Leonid Markin in the big blind. On the {J-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {Q-Spades} flop, the action was folded to the Finn and Helppi made a continuation bet of 50,000. Both Thorel and Markin called and the {6-Spades} on the turn saw the instant all in of the Frenchman.

Markin asked for a count and then made the call for 147,000, it took far longer for Helppi to make up his mind. The Finn counted out his total stack carefully and then also called to go three-way to the {4-Clubs} river. Both Markin and Helppi checked and Thorel showed {9-Spades} {8-Hearts} for a busted gut shot and open ended straight draw.

Markin had that beat with {J-Spades} {8-Spades} for middle pair and a flush draw that didn't complete and Helppi turned over {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} with a huge sigh of relief. "Nice hand," Markin said and both players are now almost on the same stack.
