Jouhkimainen Doubles Through Kurganov

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

After everyone on the table seemed to be getting involved in a raising war, Joni Jouhkimainen was the one who finally pushed with Igor Kurganov making the call.

Kurganov: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Jouhkimainen: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The board came {4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and the Finn doubled up his short stack while Kurganov took a hit on his second bullet.

Chartier Caught; Schemion Leading

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

On the turn of a {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{K-Spades} board, action was checked to Sam Chartier who bet 3,500 and Jorryt van Hoof was the only caller. The river was the {J-Hearts} and van Hoof checked again, Chartier moved in and the Dutch November Niner snap-called. Chartier immediately showed his {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} bluff and van Hoof tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} to win the pot.

Chartier was left with just 2,500 afterwards, this went into the middle in the very next hand with Ole Schemion the caller.

Chartier: {A-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Schemion: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The board came {7-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and Schemion looks to be the early chip leade with 125,000.

Floor Ruling Controversy

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

We joined the action as the floor was called. The flop {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} had been dealt and the dealer had incorrectly pointed to one player who had checked and Shane Reihill had made a bet of 4,000. It then became clear that Craig McCorkell had not checked after all and Reihill put the chips back in his stack.

The first ruling the floor delivered was the McCorkell’s hand was declared dead, a penalty for not protecting his action, basically not paying attention. There was a mild uproar as McCorkell declared no way was his hand dead, he had been deciding what to do. The players insisted on a second opinion as they are entitled to.

The second ruling was different. McCorkell had forfeited the right to act on this round and Reihill’s bet would stand. Now Reihill objected, why should his bet stand when the dealer had indicated the action incorrectly? He felt he was being penalised. It was pointed out to him what did he think had happened before action had got to him?

A form of order was restored and McCorkell called the 4,000 bet from Reihill and it went to heads-up. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and with both players sure whose turn it was they both checked. The river {8-Hearts} was similarly checked. “Eight.” McCorkell said and turned over {k-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Jouhkimainen Finding It Tough

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Joni Jouhkimainen had said to our Finnish colleagues that he wasn't a big fan of his table draw and indeed, he's finding it tough so far. Chris Moorman, who has just joined the table, opened to 1,000 and Jouhkimainen three-bet to 2,550, Moorman came back over the top with a four-bet to 5,500 and the Finn folded.

It's going to be one of those days...
