Loosli and Benelli Gone

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Andrea Benelli was all in and at risk preflop for his last 11,725 chips and received a reshove all in by Matas Cimbolas, which scared off the other opponents at the table. Benelli needed help with {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} against the {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} of the Lithuanian but the board ran out {8-Hearts} {K-Spades} {5-Spades} {J-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}.

Sylvain Loosli was down to less than 12,000 chips and committed those with {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. Cyril Ben Soussan had him covered and also the better hand in {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} to score the knockout after a board of {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}.

No Back-To-Back Title for Koutoupas

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Sotirios Koutoupas
Sotirios Koutoupas

"I just busted," Sotirios Koutoupas said on his way out of the tournament area. He then quickly walked back to grab the iPad that he had forgotten below his seat and then told us what happened.

Evangelos Tsaris had opened to 1,400 and was called by two opponents before the EPT 10 Deauville champion moved all in for 8,800 out of the big blind. Only Tsaris called with pocket kings and Koutoupas couldn't find a miracle with pocket threes.

The Greek was still smiling even upon elimination though. "He is a friend," Koutoupas added, referring to his countryman.

Set of Treys for Aido

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Sergio Aido and Ibrahim Ghassan were engaged in a hand with the board reading {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Aido checked fourth street, allowing Ghassan to lead for 3,625. Aido called and the {8-Hearts} finished off the board.

Aido checked once again and Ghassan quickly knocked the table back, rolling over {J-Spades}{j-Clubs} in the process. Ghassan's jacks were no good, however, as Aido showed a winning set of treys with {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Aido pulled the pot and now has 117,000 to his name.

It's Getting Cold on Table 13

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Vladimir Troyanovskiy
Vladimir Troyanovskiy

Rob Strong told us about a big hand he played with Vladimir Troyanovskiy two to his right.

Troyanovskiy opened to 1,100 from the hijack in that hand (in the level before this one), and his neighbor in the cutoff made the call. Rob Strong on the button squeezed to 3,500 and just Troyanovskiy made the call, the cutoff folded.

Troyanovskiy check called a 4,400 bet on {A-}{K-}{8-} with two clubs, and check called another 8,600 on the {5-Hearts} turn. The river was an off suit {4-} and Troyanovskiy check called 14,400 from Strong.

Strong tabled pocket aces for top set, Troyanovskiy mucked {A-}{K-} for top two pair.

Morin Doubles Through Subtil

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Kevin MacPhee was under the gun and he raised the action to 1,400. Action folded all of the way around the table to Pierre Morin on the button and he cut out a three-bet to 4,750. Paulino Subtil was in the small blind and he four-bet all in for roughly 42,000. MacPhee folded and Morin snapped him off for his own tournament life of what looked to be 36,750.

Subtil: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Morin: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The board fell down {7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{A-Clubs}{4-Spades}, giving Morin a winning set of aces. Morin doubled to roughly 76,000 while Subtil was crippled to just 5,100.

Jake Cody
Jake Cody

Joining the action on the {3-Spades} {K-Hearts} {8-Spades} {10-Diamonds} turn, Jake Cody bet 4,000 out of the big blind against Pierre Sakr and was called by the Lebanese. The {A-Hearts} river got checked to Cody and a bet of 15,000 chips went through uncalled to award him the pot.

Nikolaus Teichert on the Rail

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

World Series of Poker bracelet winner Nikolaus Teichert won't be cashing in the EPT 11 Deauville Main Event. After a flying start he soon found himself down to only 15,000 as of lately and just got it in preflop with pocket queens versus pocket kings. The board blanked out and Teichert was done for the day.

Add On for Darcourt

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

In the previous level, Guillaume Darcourt received a nice gift after making a continuation bet on a {K-} {8-} {3-} flop and was called only by the player in the small blind whereas the other opponent folded. On the {3-} turn, Darcourt bet 3,300 and his opponent raised to 15,000 with 10,000 behind. Darcourt put him all in with {K-} {Q-} for top pair and received a hero call by pocket tens to scoop the pot after a blank river.

Sotirios Koutoupas Did Not Smash Any Plates After Winning in Deauville

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Last year Greece's Sotirios Koutoupas took down EPT Deauville and we caught up with him one year later to talk about what that experience was like. Koutoupas also shared a story about how he combines running a business with playing poker, and how there were no plates smashed after he won this event one year ago.
